Most recently, The Shrimp Factory changed ownership in early 2013 and now rests in the capable hands of Jennifer and Tim Strickland, the Savannah brother-and-sister foodie team famous for their delicious Gourmet Southern Candies at nearby River Street Sweets. Many recount different experiences with this ghost dubbed Joe , but we are always sure to leave rum upstairs for him, as bottles tend to fall off their shelves when we run low. Many are thankful for his presence, considering the cold flush of air they walk through when running to get supplies. For anyone skittish, not to worry! Joe has never once ventured into our downstairs area- though if you ask our staff, one or two may have a story for you! LETRECIA BLAKEMeet Our Chef Everything is made from scratch and we re always trying something new. We use local seafood whenever possible- dishes like our simple steamed seafood platter let these fresh ingredients shine! It s piled high with shrimp, clams, whole crawfish, snow crab legs, sausage and corn. Lots of seafood leaves this kitchen; on busy days we serve more than 600 dishes!I grew up in the kitchen at my grannie s house and my momma s been cooking for 32 years. I ve been alongside them in the kitchen ever since. My favorite meal is completely Southern smoked turkey wing with oxtail stew, macaroni n cheese, collard greens and candied yams.
