Prior to earning his citizenship, he worked as a construction worker and was often fearful of being caught. Now a legal U.S. citizen, Guadalupe works as a roofer and continues to send money back to his family in Mexico, whom he has not seen since he left for the U.S. over 25 years ago. However, now that he is a citizen, he plans on visiting his family often.
