WELCOME NHCGNE is a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to enhance and sustain the capacity and competency of nurses to provide quality care to older adults. We build upon the legacy of The John A. Hartford Foundation, which represents the gold standard of excellence in gerontology. Join us for the opportunity to build your institution into a gerontological nursing powerhouse. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT NHCGNE is a specialty organization dedicated to optimal health and quality of life for older adults. Support from the John A. Hartford Foundation ended in 2016. In our commitment to continue the legacy of these generous years of funding, which provided the impetus for the ascendance of the discipline of gerontologic nursing, NHCGNE is spearheading a fundraising campaign to continue to support operations of the NHCGNE. Your gift will ensure our parents, grandparents and loved ones all get the very best, researched-based gerontological nursing care available. We denounce the institutional and systemic racism and recurring violence that denies African Americans and other minorities the opportunity for a life well-lived. Racism challenges their ability to achieve a healthy old age and negatively impacts their mental and physical health across the lifespan. We offer our condolences to the family and friends of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and others whose lives were senselessly cut short by recent violent events. We stand with the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Academy of Nursing (AAN), and all other nursing organizations in calling nurses to action to constructively address changing our social systems to address the health disparities that have existed for too long in the African American and other minority communities.Adopted by the Board of Directors 6/2/20 NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS!
