The budget that was passed by the Legislature and signed by the Governor protects funding for afterschool programs.  We will continue to push to maintain and eventually grow afterschool funding. Trauma Informed Practices We are equipping our staff to understand the impacts of trauma to respond constructively to challenging situations and to create the conditions for children to learn the social and emotional skills essential to navigating their lives. UCLA CRESST Evaluation Results The recently published UCLA CRESST research report finds that elementary school children who attend LA’s BEST were less likely to drop out and more likely to graduate high school than those students who never participated in the program. We stand with our fellow Angelenos and those around the world who are demanding justice and fighting injustice. Our hearts are with the families and communities of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery Breonna Taylor and the countless other victims of racist police violence and murder. Through our afterschool enrichment program, we strive to combat the disparities created by oppressive and systemic racial inequities and work to prepare our students and staff to become changemakers in our communities.
