Collaborative efforts in these areas will be guided by the following principles:A strong collective voice for health sciences education and researchA common voice representing the Deans' united viewCollaborative decisions informed by the strategic priorities of both the Council and its individual member facultiesShared resources and generation of efficienciesActive participation recognizing that, depending on the initiative, not all will be involved to the same extentBreaking down barriers The Health Sciences Council (HSC) is the formal administrative arrangement through which the Health Sciences Faculties strengthen collaborative efforts. The Council has a mandate to lead and enable interprofessional education (IPE) and interdisciplinary research (IDR), the two areas that comprise the essential academic support for interdisciplinary excellence.The Council consists of a governing board comprised of the deans from each Health Sciences Faculty, the associate vice-president, research, and a representative of Alberta Health Services; an operational unit made up of academic and administrative staff delivers Council initiatives.
