High Production Value Online Programs Health care workers treating COVID-19 patients across the nation are facing a critical shortage of personal protection equipment (PPE), especially face shields and respiratory N95 face masks. DePaul faculty and students are answering the call by using medically-approved design plans and 3D printers to manufacture these much-needed supplies for hospitals in Illinois. “This is a great opportunity for us to put the skills we learned in DePaul's makerspaces to good use," says Michael Koenig, a DePaul student who is helping to produce the face masks at home. Faculty and Students use 3D Printers to Make PPE Hector M Padilla (BA ‘14) is a Puerto Rican, queer, Chicago-based artist. Hector started his freelance career in the middle of his senior year as an animation major. In 2016, he began working for Jackbox Games—an online party game hub that has become the “go to” for virtual friend and family game nights during the pandemic--as an animator. Hector has since been promoted to Lead Artist, where he's been an art director for games like Fibbage 3, Mad Verse City, and Role Models. School of Cinematic Arts Alumni Mark Nauta (MS ' 13) graduated from CDM with a master's in game development. Shortly after, he joined Firaxis Games and worked on XCOM2 and its expansion War of the Chosen as a Designer/Gameplay Programmer. Most recently, Mark was the Lead Designer on XCOM: Chimera Squad, a standalone game in the XCOM universe, which was released in April. MS Game Programming Julia Vo (BA ’14) is a product designer with 8 years of experience at companies such as Crate Barrel, Orbitz, Paychex, and Paylocity. She received her degrees in Interactive Media (now called User Experience Design) and Public Relations Advertising. Julia has designed various client facing products, design systems, and internal tools. As an advocate for user research and user centered designs, Julia has a passion for mentoring those looking to break into user experience. BS User Experience Design Institute for Professional Development (IPD) IPD offers intensive certificate programs designed for IT professionals who wish to learn new technologies and upgrade their skills in a short amount of time.
