With great regret, the Friends of Pine Grove Furnace State Park must cancel Fall Furnace Fest this year. While we cannot predict the COVID-19 situation with certainty, we fear that four months from now the pandemic will still be a major problem it simply would not be safe and responsible to host thousands of people at Pine Grove Furnace State Park. Moreover, it is not clear that formal restrictions on large crowds would be lifted by then; under the Governor’s current “Green” scheme, we could not hold this event which typically draws 6000 to 8000 attendees over the weekend. We are canceling all organized public activities that weekend: no vendors, no historical demonstrations, and no Hairy Hand. We will directly contact vendors who have already submitted their 2020 applications.2020 Iron Run Half-Marathon & Charcoal Challenge 5K Run/Walk Both the Iron Run and Chacoal Challenge were canceled for 2020 due to pandemic considerations; we are sorry to have to skip what would have been our 10th year.
