Traveling flings the students into formative decision-making opportunities and memorable experiences. As the students encounter the unexpected in unknown places, they gain new perspective and chances to learn lessons that cannot be taught in a classroom. Forge students embark on many of these experiences each year. The culmination of all of our travel: a ten-day study tour of Israel. The Nitty Gritty Since the Forge is a discipleship program and not an internship, there is a cost shared among students that sustains the ministry itself. “Austin matured in many ways in his year with the Forge, most importantly in his walk with Christ. Parent of a Forge Student Intensive Learning The classroom environment is an essential part of any education. Unlike collegiate courses, however, Forge classes are aimed at developing the God-given design within each student rather than simply downloading information vital to passing an exam. Forge teachers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and levels of expertise. The classroom environment is as experiential and challenging as possible. Many of our students say the learning they had in the Forge was more stimulating and effective than any of their four years in college. Academic Credit We’re All in This Together Forge students live in a close community of men and women from all over the country. The wide range of personalities and perspectives becomes our program’s primary means of character development. Without the opportunity to run from conflict, Forge students learn new dimensions of love, respect, and service as they share living space, meals, spending money, trips, and classes together. Community requires closeness and selflessness with one another and with other leaders, leading to an environment that is almost always personal, challenging, and real. Within the community are innumerable opportunities to practice a life of serving rather than being served. “After one semester, my mom declared that God was saving my life through the Forge. Maddie Ritchie serves as the Forge Women’s Director, and Dexter Carter completes our leadership team as the Men’s Director. Jared, Maddie, and Dexter are committed to teaching, mentoring, and discipling the next generation of Christian leaders. Contact Us The Forge currently partners with several universities and seminaries that offer Forge graduates various opportunities to continue their training at a Master’s level. In some cases, Forge graduates will receive advanced standing and/or transfer credit towards a Master’s degree at a participating university or seminary. Our current partnerships are listed below:Dallas Baptist UniversityDallas Baptist University offers Forge graduates nine hours of transfer credit towards any Master’s degree in the Graduate Ministry Degree Program. Participating Forge graduates must complete all aspects of the program and will receive a transcript reflecting their academic performance. DBU does not require the student to enroll while in the Forge to be eligible for the transfer credits.
