New - Watersmeet re-opens for day ticket fishing...

After more than 10 years of being a 'residents only' fishery, Gloucestershire's Watersmeet Angling Centre at Hartpury has reintroduced day ticket angling on its two waters and now offers fishing for carp to 30lbs as well as good sized tench and bream.
In addition to improvements to the angling which have included restocking Tench Pool, further improvements have been carried out to upgrade the accommodation at the fishery.

...and a five pool fishery near Sutton Coldfield

Developed over a period of 10 years on part of a former vegetable farm and opened for fishing last year, Catchmore Park Fishing at Marston near Sutton Coldfield offers angling for carp to over 20lbs and tench at an informal and relaxed 50 acre venue. Ideal for pleasure anglers and their families as well as small club matches, four of the five pools have a central island and are fringed with young willows. With vehicle access around all the pools and parking behind the pegs, Catchmore Park has now reopened. Click on the link for full details and photographs.

Coming soon - a pretty lily pad pool in Herefordshire...

A little known but delightful pool hidden from the main A44 Worcester to Leominster road as you enter the market town of Bromyard, Rosefern Pool was for many years run as a syndicate water but opened for day ticket angling early in 2019 and has already attracted a small but faithful local following. Stocked with more than a dozen species including carp reputed to run to 20lbs, it is an easy water to fish with natural grass pegs and few facilities except for a hard standing car park. It is ideal for parents with younger anglers as the roach and roach/rudd hybrids can give you virtually a fish a cast.

Broad Acres installs lakeside pods

Worcestershire's Broad Acres Fishery has installed four timber Anglers' Pods on Main Lake to provide night ticket anglers with accommodation which is a touch more luxurious than standard bivvies.

Ideal for individual anglers, couples or families, the pods are set slightly back from the waters edge and are available for hire at an introductory cost of 30.00. The pods are available from 11.00am until 10.00am the following day.

Kingsbury goes cashless in changes to day ticket system

Warwickshire Country Parks have gone cashless and simplified its day ticket prices which means anglers fishing Kingsbury Water Park now need to visit the nearest Pay and Display machine located in the staff and disabled car park near the main entrance. Anglers should select the correct tariff for the lake they wish to fish and pay a single fee by card. The fee now incorporates the cost of car parking. Anglers should keep the fishing ticket with them so it can be checked by rangers on the bankside. It is no longer necessary to purchase a separate car parking ticket. Annual permits remain the same.

Prices are now 7.50 for adults on all pools with the exception of Pine Pool, 6.50 for concessions and 9.50 for Pine Pool (no concessions).

News bites...

Solihull's Woods Farm Fishery has closed its doors to pleasure anglers until further notice but is still open for pre-booked matches. In the meantime, the owners are looking to recruit a local bailiff who can take over the day to day running of the venue when it reopens.

A major restocking programme has been completed at Staffordshire's Hamstall Fisheries with the addition of 60 carp between 17lbs and 20lbs in the Specimen Pool as well as 1,000lbs of 1lb to 3lb mixed carp and a stock of barbel in the other pools.

Night fishing at Staffordshire's Chorley Springs, introduced following the reopening of the fishery after the Covid-19 lockdown, will be suspended at the end of October and reintroduced on April 1, 2021.

Butlers Hill
moves carp to
Island Pool

Following a problem with otters,
Butlers Hill Fishery on the Warwickshire/ Oxfordshire border have moved their stock of carp from Middle Pool into Island Pool but have left the silver fish alone.

Work has also started on having Middle Pool otter fenced following a restocking of both Middle and Island pools.

The fishery has moved its opening time from 7.00am to 8.00am.
