Saturday, May 9, 2009 Time Flow and Creationism(Author's note: This article contains opinionated content. I am NOT asking anyone to change their beliefs. I am simply stating mine. If anyone actually reads this article, please leave a comment, I would love to discuss it.)
I have been thinking about the continuum (whether that's the right term or not) of time. I don't believe in fate. I do believe that there are very few random events. Every occurrence, no matter how random it seems, has a traceable, logical chain of events that caused it. There are random events, but fewer of them than many people think. But anyway, the future is fluid and changeable. If you don't believe in fate, then you cannot believe in inevitability.
But now the main point. If the future is fluid, then why not the past? Only the present is concrete. The past is changeable, as long as it leads up to the present. And as it changes, so does our perception of it. We remember our past as it is, our memory changes with the events. So nothing is really different, but it's a cool thought. Just as long as you don't think too closely.
Now, I thought of this strange idea as a way to reconcile creationism with evolution. Creation science is full of crap. Sorry. So far I have been respecting both separately, but it bothered me that they conflicted so heavily. My I logically believed in evolution, but creatively believed in creationism. Error. Two conflicting forces cannot occupy the same place. So, while riding the bus to school, I was hit with this idea. The world was created as the bible said. I have to believe that, simply because it's beautiful, and it makes me happy. That's the point in believing, is it not? But when the Fall occurred, and Adam and Eve got kicked out of the garden, the past was changed, to fit the laws that we know today. Adam and Eve had suddenly evolved from monkeys, it suddenly had always been that way. The past changed, and the fundamental nature of things changed. The Garden was a could-have-been. I don't know how we came by the story of the garden, but I don't think it's important.2 comments: HomeSubscribe to:Posts (Atom)FollowersBlog Archive 2009(1) May(1)Time Flow and CreationismAbout MeSymmetryyrtemmySView my complete profile
