Viewpoint’s 2019 FILM IV Production is Category Winner in Academy Award -Qualifying Indy Shorts International Film Festival We are honored to announce that CAT, Viewpoint s 2019 Film IV film, has been selected to the prestigious Academy Award -Qualifying Indy Shorts International Film Festival presented by Heartland Film (July 21-26). Only 4% of submitted films were selected for the program and CAT was selected to be the Narrative Winner in this year s High School Film Competition Program. CAT won $500 for being a category (Narrative, Documentary, Animated) winner, and the film is one of only 12 high school films that will compete for the juried $2,500 Summer White Lynch Memorial Grand Prize. Read More Viewpoint Teachers Featured on KTLA for Initiating Community-Wide Effort to 3D Print PPE Technology teachers Alison Steelberg Corneau 97 and Lisa Kessler were featured on KTLA s nightly news for a story about Viewpoint School s community response in the COVID-19 crisis. We are incredibly proud of the program they put in place, which now involves teachers, students, and their families producing essential PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). In less than two weeks of producing 3D printed face shields, they have already delivered over 160 completed face shields to local healthcare workers. We now have over two hundred shield pieces printed and we have added two new Lulzbot Workhorse printers to the production line. The Instagram Call to Action post has the Viewpoint Community and some of our neighbors helping local healthcare workers in a variety of ways. The machines continue to hum along in the Corneau, Didden, Kessler, and Rush faculty homes, where all of the family members are jumping in to assemble face shields and make sure the printers stay busy. 3D printed face masks, face shield pieces, and door openers are all being fabricated on Viewpoint s Lulzbot 3D printers. Once again, the children invited their parents to try out many of the maker activities that they do as part of their regular K-5 program in Technology and in the Innovation Space, but with a Valentine s Day twist. The day included inspiring performances, speakers, 45 student-led workshops, and a skill-building workshop for having difficult conversations.
