These young people require extra specialist support to help with their learning and we are now allowed to bring this group back so we can do our very best to support their learning face to face. The government is allowing all schools to do this and we are really excited to be able to welcome back more of our youngsters. We will also be opening our doors to those of our youngsters that need extra support from our Learning Development Team, they do not have an EHCP but their needs are acute and we are now able to put in place positive measures to further support their learning. With regard to our plans to bring back more pupils who come under the careful and supportive Learning Development umbrella this could see an additional 70 pupils returning to school, although we are anticipating 40. We have taken measures to ensure that our youngsters who have already been attending will still be continuing with their in-school provision and our new youngsters returning will receive their support elsewhere in the building, in the humanities classrooms and with a different start and finishing time. They will be working in classes of no more than 12 pupils and will have lessons to work on going over the basics and gradually increasing the challenge and tailoring to their specific needs as they get back into the routine.I have attached the Risk Assessment for welcoming back our extra youngsters as well as the Risk Assessment for when we welcome back our Year 10 pupils for face-to-face meetings the following week, the week beginning Monday 22nd June. As with any Risk Assessment it is a ‘live’ document so can be amended accordingly.I and the rest of the staff would dearly love and indeed are desperate to have more of our youngsters back but sadly and frustratingly are not allowed just yet. We have no news yet about what September may look like, but I do know that we want all of our young people back as soon as we are allowed. There has been much speculation in the press and Gavin Williamson, the Secretary of State for Education said yesterday in parliament that it will be all pupils from September at the earliest. We have been working on a few ideas on what this may look like but listening to what is being said there will have to be some kind of blended learning approach from September. What I mean by that is it may well be that our youngsters may have to have some time in school and some time at home continuing with home learning. Whether this is having different year groups in on different days, orhalf the school in from 8.30am to 12.30pm and then the other half from 1.30pm to 4.30pm or some other way, I genuinely do not know. Whatever our plans are I will share with you as soon as I possibly can, but I am still waiting. This is not what I want at all but can only act as guided by those that lead the country. As ever please do not hesitate to get in contact should you have any queries or questions. The very kindest of regards to you all.Yours sincerely,Mr D WrightHead TeacherClick Here For  COVID 19 Risk AssessmentClick Here For COVID 19 Risk Assessment For SEND_PupilsWe are continuing to follow advice from Public Health England in respect of Coronavirus. We have not been put on alert to close and at present we have no plans to close the school for any additional time.
