Bringing people together to build a common future We contribute to a future of peace, reconciliation, equity and sustainable development. Together with our members and partners, we identify the UNESCO themes that are of interest in Canada. Three themes shape all of our efforts in Canada and internationally. Each theme includes a series of initiatives and reflects the action areas of our networks. We promote supportive, inclusive and equitable communities for all in the interests of lasting peace in the world. We contribute to creating societies that are resilient to global challenges by promoting new ideas and sharing best practices. We contribute to protecting our heritage with a view to preserving the environment and the diversity of cultural identities and expressions. Our networks mobilize millions of Canadians and help create a more inclusive and sustainable world. Each network’s initiatives pursue priority themes set by the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, and have a dynamic, transformative and inspiring effect on Canadians. The Canadian Commission for UNESCO s offices, located in Ottawa, are on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation whose presence here reaches back to time immemorial.
