Talking Dictionaries were created at Swarthmore College in 2005, and have since expanded to include 200+ endangered languages. With generous support from donors, we are able to offer this tool for free to any endangered language community that needs it. Talking dictionaries from Zimbabwe developed at the language revitalization workshop in March 2014 hosted by the African Languages Research Institute, University of Zimbabwe, in Harare, Zimbabwe. Talking dictionaries from Micronesia developed at the language revitalization workshop in July 2013 hosted by the Island Research Education Initiative and the FSM Special Education Service, Department of Education. Talking dictionaries from Latin America developed at the “Voces Duraderas” (Enduring Voices) digital literacy and lexicography workshop for language revitalization in January 2013. A collection of talking dictionaries from Papua New Guinea. A collection of talking dictionaries from India. Other talking dictionary projects include the Celtic Comparative Lexicon. The Talking Dictionary concept and platform was created by K. David Harrison in 2005. The Tuvan Talking Dictionary, was launched in 2006 and hosted at Swarthmore College.
