First, how cool is it that a truck comes up from Georgia with peaches for us? Way cool. So just meeting the truck (and the fun staff with cute Southern accents) is an experience all on its own. YOLO! She didn t, however, mind it as much in peach crisp or the recipe I m about to share, but won t be requesting it any time soon. I m okay with that.Growing up, my mom made a number of fruit recipes with butter and sugar. I mean, how else can you easily get your kids to like butternut squash? I have a vague recollection of hollowed out apples as well (Mom, recipe?), which is how I know this recipe for Brown Sugar Baked Peaches would be a winner.It takes just a few minutes to pull together, and after a little bit of time in the oven, you can enjoy these on their own, served with vanilla ice cream, or with a little streusel topping added.PS If you want your OWN order of peaches from The Peach Truck, you can order and have it shipped directly to you, or enter your zip code and find out when they re going to be in your area next.Ingredients:4 fresh, ripe peaches2 Tablespoons of butter, cut into thin slices4 teaspoons brown sugar1 teaspoon ground cinnamonDirections:Preheat oven to 375. Slice the peaches in half and put them snugly in a baking side, cut side up. In the center hole, add the butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon evenly amongst the peach halves. The property boasts both formal and native gardens (although, of course, there isn t much in the way of gardens in the winter) and is currently open from 8-5 (8-8 in the summer) and has free parking and no entrance fee.Lovingly maintained by volunteers, this is one of those places that would be wonderful to visit every season so you can see the various scenes play out in the gardens.
