Description:

Our primary objective is to restore function to patients afflicted with the entire spectrum of musculoskeletal and neurologic disorders.  Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialists (also referred to as “physiatrists”) often diagnose and evaluate patients with back or joint pain, sports injuries, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and amputations.  The primary goal is to maximize function, often through focused physical therapies, medications, and non-operative interventions.   The Stanford Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Residency Program application deadline is October 30th, 2020.  All interviews will be held virtually.  For more information, please visit our residency application page.   On March 26, 2020, Drs. John Chan, Anne Kuwabara, and Nitin Prabhakar, and three students from Yale (School of Medicine: Rachel Esparza BS, Maryam Ige BE; School of Public Health: Catherine Stratton BA) were selected as one of 230 international teams to participate in the Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering, Innovation, and Design (CBID) COVID-19 Design Challenge. To tackle the challenge of a scarce N95 supply, they proposed a product called Mask-xtend, a disposable mask cover designed to prolong the life of N95s in current supply.
