All India PG Diploma Programs National Institute of Electronics Information Technology NIELIT Calicut is a National Resource Centre for Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes in ASIC Design and Verification, Embedded Systems Design, Industrial Automation System Design, Software Technology and VLSI Embedded Hardware. The PGD programmes are designed to meet the requirements of students who would like to develop their skills in the particular subject area of interest and demonstrate their competency in that area. It was decided to introduce the popular PGD programs of NIELIT, Calicut as All India Post Graduate Diploma programs. All India PG Diploma programs are intended to impart training in designing complex Embedded Systems and reusable Intellectual Property (IP) Cores and thereby create a pool of ready to employ manpower. Emphasis of the teaching curriculum will on design methodology and practical applications. The course contents are framed keeping in view the existing and emerging trends and need for skilled engineers. Being a frontrunner in the field, NIELIT Calicut will serve as the principal resource centre for the scheme with all other NIELIT Centers, as the participating institutes. The participating NIELIT Centres shall have the similar infrastructure as NIELIT, Calicut. The participating Centres shall be increased over a period of time. All eligible students are required to forward their applications to NIELIT Calicut mentioning their choice of region/centre where they would be interested to undergo the PGD programme. Counselling of the students and registration of the students would be done at NIELIT Calicut. NIELIT Calicut would then allot the students based on their choice and availability of seats to the various institutes. The student evaluation during the PGD programme will be a continuous process. The students would be required to submit assignments and write the written tests as per the course calendar that would be provided to them at the start of the programme. The students would also be required to present seminars and do a project presentation and submit project reports. Based on the overall performance of each student, grades will be allotted as per the guidelines as specified by NIELIT Calicut. PGD Certificate will be awarded by NIELIT, Calicut to all successful candidates as per the norms. Management of SchemeThe Scheme shall function under the administrative control of the NIELIT HQ. The Scheme shall be operated by NIELIT Calicut on behalf of NIELIT HQ as the Nodal Centre for the implementation of the Scheme. The Management Board/Governing Council of NIELIT HQ as apex body shall evolve policies and provide necessary guidelines for fulfilment of the objectives of the Scheme. The Management Board will periodically review and monitor the activities of the Scheme and take such remedial measures as may be deemed necessary, to meet the objectives of the Scheme. The Institute invites engineering colleges or institutes who are interested in conducting the programs.
