Except for the skeletal force of non-academic staff andsecurity personnel, no one will be allowed to enter the buildings withoutprior clearance from the dean. Students and faculty who need to retrievetheir instruments and other personal properties from the lockers andoffices are advised to coordinate with the college administration to securea permit. Practice sessions, be these solo or group are also prohibited in thecollege buildings. All events scheduled this week, whether collegesponsored or organized by other groups will be cancelled.The UP College of Music will remain in lockdown this week while we waitfor developments and further advice from the University and thegovernment regarding the COVID19 outbreak.For strict compliance. LaVerne C. de la Peña, Ph.D.DeanThe UP College of Music College Executive Board (CEB) had its online CEB meeting yesterday regarding the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in place from March 16 – April 15, 2020. After the meeting, the CEB has decided on the following guidelines:The College of Music premises and buildings are officially closed. No persons may be allowed into the building without permission from the office of the dean.Academic activities will be adjusted with the corresponding deadlines to be set after the ECQ. This includes deadline for filing for dropping or LOA as well as recital completion scheduled within the period of ECQ. All recitals, theses, special projects, and other program exit requirements as well as MRR appeals and evaluation of records will be processed only after the period of the quarantine. Application period for music programs has been extended until April 20, 2020. Entrance exams for undergraduate and graduate programs have been moved to April 25, 2020 (music theory) and May 2, 2020 (auditions). Please be informed that the college will only accept new applications online through the following:Undergraduate music programs may be submitted to http://bit.ly/cmu_appform2020For graduate admissions, kindly email jsbuenconsejo@up.edu.ph and regojo@up.edu.ph. The suspension of classes during the ECQ period has been in place (OVPAA memo. 2020-38, 39). Faculty may respond to student-initiated consultations but cannot hold classes during this period. If possible, music students are encouraged to practice at home.Students staying in dorms or boarding houses on campus are encouraged to coordinate with any of the following offices/ persons: Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs (ovcsa.upd@up.edu.ph, or ovcsa.upd@yahoo.com), UP CMu Associate Dean for Student Affairs (jubaes@up.edu.ph) or UP College of Music Student Council president Mr. Ricardo Balledos (rballedos@up.edu.ph).Options for the college in case of extension of quarantine as a result of the developing COVID-19 situation have also been discussed and will be presented consistent with University policy as the need arises.
