Dr. Brenda Winfrey-Knox is a product of Cumberland County Schools.  After graduating from E. E. Smith High School, she attended Fayetteville State University (FSU) and received her BA in elementary and math education.  She continued her post-education at FSU and received her Masters in Elementary Education, Masters in Administration, and a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.  Dr. Winfrey-Knox has been employed with CCS for 27 years. During her tenure, she was employed at the following locations, College Lakes Elem, W. T. Brown Elem, South View Middle, Grays Creek Middle, T. C. Berrien Elem, and Pine Forest High.Dr. Winfrey-Knox enjoys spending time with her family, reading, tennis, coloring, and hula hooping.  She has one daughter, Frances. Her devotion to education is her commitment to ensuring that others are strong so they can reach back and have no one left behind.  She is excited to work with the Jack Britt family. In alignment with guidance from state officials, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) has created three reopening plans (A, B C), pending the decision of Gov. Roy Cooper. If the governor selects Plan B (Blended-Remote and Face-to-Face Learning), the district will provide three options for CCS families.ACTION REQUIRED: To allow the district to prepare for Plan B, parents are asked to choose one of the following three learning experiences, within Plan B, that best suits their child. The option selection remains in place for at least one semester. Note: All students will have access to social-emotional support.Option IBlended In-PersonLearning ExperienceStudents will be provided with a rotating schedule for both in-person and remote learning to maximize learning outcomes. This option will include a combination of face-to-face and remote instruction.Option IIRemote LearningExperience Full-TimeFamilies selecting this option will not be provided with a face-to-face schedule. All instruction will occur online with assigned teachers from the child’s school. Once school returns to a normal schedule with face-to-face instruction for all students, this option will be dissolved.Option IIIEnrollment inCumberland Academy(K-12 Virtual School)Cumberland Academy (K-12 Virtual School), a new Choice Program in CCS, will serve as a separate school within the Cumberland County Schools. It is designed to provide K-12 students and families with an alternative learning option through the use of online, interactive course content.Cumberland Academy will be a fully functioning school with a flexible learning environment. North Carolina awards the Purple Star designation to those schools that demonstrate military-friendly practices and a commitment to military students and families. Schools that apply and earn the award will receive a Purple Star recognition to display on the school premises. Thank you to everyone that helped make this happen. Cost: $20 per school day $75 per week The JBHS Spirit Rock is a great way to celebrate birthdays, show your team spirit, congratulate students for their accomplishments or even ask a date to prom! Please use the link to Sign Up Genius on the school website to reserve your day. The money raised from the Spirit Rock will be used by the JBHS Athletic Booster Club to support our student-athletes and school athletic department. RULES  Reservations MUST be made to paint the rock through the Sign-Up Genius link on the school website. Reservations are on a first come first serve basis. No refunds will be given. If you cannot paint due to bad weather, you may reschedule your reservation for another open date.  Submit your payment of cash or check made payable to JBHS ABC. Payments should be submitted to Mrs. April Norton in the school office no later than 5 business days after reserving a date. If payment is not received within 5 days of making your reservation, your reservation will be cancelled. The school cannot accept payment after 2 pm Monday-Thursday, at any time on Fridays, or on the last day of the month.  A sketch of the painting must be submitted along with this form or emailed to Mrs. Norton at aprilnorton@ccs.k12.nc.us no less than 7 days prior to your reservation date and must be approved by school administration before you are given the approval to paint. You will receive an email once it is approved.  All supplies and materials needed are your responsibility. No trash or supplies are to be left after you paint. You are responsible for any damage that you cause to surrounding property when painting.  The rock may not be painted during school hours.  You may begin painting the rock at 4:30 pm the day before your reserved date. Your reservation will expire at 4:30 pm on your reservation date.  The painting may not contain profanity, discriminatory remarks, obscenities, bullying, nudity, political innuendo or drug-related depictions. Paintings must be in accordance with Cumberland County School’s Student Code of Conduct.  JBHS reserves the right to paint over anything deemed inappropriate. Please print this form and return it with your payment to April Norton.
