Description:

30 on ADA 30 campaign #30onADA30In celebration of 30 years since the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the National Council on Disability is recognizing the law's impact, its progress and its promise with the 30 on ADA 30 campaign. NCD is excited to announce the kickoff of NCD’s “#30onADA30,” a six-month campaign geared toward capturing all of our love for the ADA – in 30 words or less (text) or 30 seconds or less (audio or video). In this 30th anniversary of the ADA, #30onADA30 is NCD’s little way of reminding everyone why we need to keep defending and building upon the ADA’s successes. Let’s have some fun with it!What is 30 on ADA 30?Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NCD's original celebratory event at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., was cancelled. Just like the advocacy of so many Americans was a key part of the law's passage, 30onADA30 will provide an online virtual showcase of Americans' perspectives on on the ADA.Is this a one-day celebration? It is a six-month celebration, as 30onADA30 is planned to run through the end of December 2020.How can I participate? The event is open to everyone and is meant for all Americans to voice their perspective on the law, it's importance, or even how it needs to be improved. This is a multimedia-based effort, so text, audio and video of your message are all welcome. To participate, simply tell NCD something about how the ADA impacted your life. Share an experience. Some ideas include:How your life has changed since the ADA became law; What words come to mind when you think of the ADA;A song that comes to mind when you think of the ADA;What has been the most important protection the ADA provided; What changed because of the ADA;If you were born after the ADA became law in 1990, what it means to you to be a part of the ADA generation;A poem dedicated to the ADA; orWhat's needed next. The possibilities are endless!Once you decide what you have to say about the ADA, simply write down, audio or video record a response – in 30 words or 30 seconds or less – and send it to NCD.NCD will collect the responses and begin to share out many of them in the weeks and months to come.Use the Hashtag #30onADA30 on social media along with #ADA30.There are many ways to share your contribution with NCD. You can Direct Message us or tag NCD on social media with your content. You can also email or upload your submissions directly. The goal here is to make your voices heard in relation to this momentous occasion. Facebook: NCDgovTwitter: @NatCounDisInstagram: NCDgovEmail: 30onADA30@ncd.gov (text/audio/video files up to 20MB)File Upload: 30onADA30 Campaign (Audio and video files)NCD will regularly run submissions throughout the rest of the year, so your thoughts on the ADA could be published by the federal agency that originally drafted it. RELEASE OF INFORMATIONPlain Language:By sending NCD what you have to share for #30onADA30, you agree to let NCD use your words, picture, and any images you send us with lots of other people and in work NCD does in the future.
