Glendalough is a remarkable place that will still your mind, inspire your heart and fill your soul.Access to the Monastic City: The monuments and lakes are accessible all year round at anytime of the day however the car parks may have the barrier down early in the morning and late in the evening. There is no charge to see the Monastic sites(churches/round tower) or the Upper and Lower Lakes except the car park fees for the Upper Lake and the Visitor Centre at the Monastic Site.Visitors are advised not to leave valuables in their cars, especially in the more remote locations.See parking feesParking in Glendaloughand the surrounding area.Dogs are welcome in Glendalough but MUST be kept on leads at all times and owners are to dispose of any dirt.There are toilet facilities for public use at the Monastic Site (Visitor Centre) and also at the Upper Lake Car Park area.First Aid facilities, including an AED (defibrillator) are available at the Information Office and at the Laragh petrol station 1.5km from Glendalough. Other emergency services may also be alerted from here.There are no ATM in Glendalough but is an ATMLaragh village at the petrol station inside the Shop(opening hours only).The next nearest ATM is outside the bank in Rathdrum (24 hours) or inside the Centra shop in Roundwood (opening hours only).Wicklow Mountains National ParkThe Glendalough Valley is located in the Wicklow Mountains National Park and has many attractions to entice, entertain and enthral visitors, from its world famous Monastic Site with Round Tower to its scenic lakes and valleys, as well as a selection of walks and trails in the area including The Wicklow Way. The National Park also run educational nature walks for adults and children.
