The program is designed to equip and mentor pre- andpostdoctoral trainees to develop novel, state-of-the-art computational methods for advancing biomedicine. The biomedical sciences are being radically transformed by advances in our ability to monitor, record, store, integrate and analyze information characterizing human biology and health at scales that range from individualmolecules to large populations of subjects. This wealth of information has the potential to substantially advanceboth our understanding of human biology and our ability to improve human health through smarter methods forrisk assessment, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment planning. The focus of the CIBMprogram encompasses translational bioinformatics, clinical research informatics, image analysis, and health informatics. PhD students who are eligible for this interdisciplinary training include those in Biomedical Data Science, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Statistics,Genetics, Nursing, Biochemistry, Engineering, Mathematics, among other graduate programs.CIBM is funded by a grant from the National Library of Medicine(T15 LM007359), with additional support from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate School.Predoctoral traineeships are generally awarded for a three-year period and postdoctoral traineeships are generally awarded for a two-year period. These traineeships provide a monthly stipend and cover tuition, fees, and research-related expenses.Predoctoral students must be accepted into an affiliated PhD program at the University of Wisconsin. All supported trainees must be permanent residents or U.S. citizens. Information about individual graduate programs can be obtained direclty from the relevant departments or from the CIBM Training Program by contacting Louise Pape, Program Coordinator.FINANCIAL ASSISTANCESupport for 9 predoctoral and 6 postdoctoral trainees is provided by a grant from The National Library of Medicine. Predoctoral traineeships are generally awarded for a three-year period and postdoctoral traineeships are generally awarded for a two-year period. These traineeships cover tuition and fees, as well as provide a monthly stipend for living expenses. For NLM support, predoctoral students must be accepted into an affiliated PhD program. All supported trainees must be permanent residents or U.S. citizens. Information about individual graduate programs can be obtained from the relevant biological and computational departments or from the CIBM Training Program by contacting Louise Pape, Program Coordinator.TRAINEESHIP OPENINGSThe University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marshfield Clinic are currently recruiting for CIBM postdoctoral traineeships: CIBM Postdoctoral Nomination Form.. © 2010 UW-Madison CIBM Training Program and Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System
