The 2020 Great New York State Fair has been canceled to ensure the health and safety of New Yorkers and all fairgoers. New York is home to over 33,000 family farms producing some of the world's best food and beverages. About 20% of New York State's land area, or close to 7 million acres, is farmland. New York is the 4th largest producer of dairy in the nation, and it is the state's biggest economic sector. The New York State Grown Certified® program makes it easy to identify products that are grown and produced locally, with a focus on food safety and environmental standards - and it promotes the farmers behind these products. Taste NY introduces consumers to the world-class products made right here in New York, helping to create new economic opportunities for our farmers and for our food and beverage producers. Feeding Westchester has purchased 694,412 pounds of surplus food from NY farmers since the launch of Nourish NY. The Regional Food Bank of NENY has purchased more than 1.1 million pounds of surplus food from NY farmers through Nourish NY. Governor Cuomo announced that the 2020 Great New York State Fair will be canceled to ensure the health and safety of New Yorkers and all fairgoers.
