Our Dogs We are the third largest Golden Retriever Rescue in the country, finding homes for over 300 dogs annually.Our dogs are placed in foster homes where we can assess their temperament and provide them with all the necessary veterinary care they would need prior to adoption.Our goal is to find loving, lifetime homes for each dog that comes through our doors.  Every dog has their own representative from the time they enter the rescue through to their adoption.Our mission is to rescue homeless Golden Retrievers, Golden mixes, and like breeds in Southern California from situations of abuse and neglect regardless of conditions or circumstances.Our vision is to build a sanctuary to serve as a halfway house, where each of our beloved rescue dogs can rest and recuperate while we evaluate their needs, prior to being placed with a foster or permanent family. Fundraiser for Cork7+ year old Cork came in as a stray to Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue after he was found at a local shelter. Once we rescued him, our vet noticed a possible heart condition through basic vetting. He had labs, xrays and echocardiogram to determine a diagnosis. We took him to a cardiologist to read0%Donated$ 1500 to go Support International Golden RescuesTogether with our rescue partners in Turkey, South Korea, Taiwan and China, SCGRR works to bring beautiful and often abandoned Golden Retrievers to Southern California.  International Rescues are often very costly to the rescue as the dog can be the price of a full fare ticket if we do not have volunteers that are already0%Donated$ 10000 to go Dogs in South Korea Desperate for Escape in 2020 Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue's (SCGRR's) partners in South Korea have been busy trying to save dogs from getting sold in the meat trade, killed in high kill shelters, or saving medical priority dogs left and right. High kill shelters don't necessarily practice humane euthanasia and have even been known to sell dogs to the tortuous dog meat trade. Unfortunately, the 2020 pandemic has made a dire situation even worse. South Korea is also by far the most expensive country for SCGRR to responsibly rescue from because Heart worm is so prevalent and fosters are scarce. We work hard to make sure dogs are clear of “microfilaria” – the infectious part of Heart worm – before they can come to the U.S. to begin the life they've always deserved. This is because we live in a low Heart worm state where many owners don’t have their dogs on prevention. That means longer stays for initial treatment overseas where fosters are scarce and costly boarding is necessary. With COVID-19 travel restrictions and impending summer heat, the situation is even more complicated and their stays might be even longer. But at least with our partner, they are safe for now! SCGRR sponsored 4 amazing Goldens. During the time it took for us to commit to these 4 dogs, two others we were considering died and another was found at a meat farm. We need your help to pull together funds specifically to help dogs from this country. Please help us continue to save these dogs from horrible living conditions and even more horrific deaths.
