“Leonardo 4 Children” non-profit initiative

The non-profit initiative “Leonardo 4 Children” includes international awards which represent a kind of “Nobel prize” for children stimulating their creativity, and developing artistic & scientific skills to address global issues.
In fact, if Leonardo da Vinci were reborn today, 500 years after his death, he would not need to solve the problems of discovering the secrets of nature and of human body, inventing how to fly, or inventing machines: he would likely use his genius to solve global problems to improve the quality of our lives. We encourage children and young people to develop their creativity and become the new Leonardo’s of 21st century:

“Every child can be a genius !”

Leonardo 4 Children 2022 Awards

The “Leonardo 4 Children 2022” awards focused on Climate, Equality and Peace and are open to children aged 6-12, teenagers 13-18 and young music composers aged 18-30, resident in the EU, as well as in other countries in cooperation with local partners.
The Awards closed end May 2022 with 482 participants, and the 10 winners for each category have been announced by the Juries in June 2022 and are available at the specific Leonardo 4 Children 2022 page and on our social media channels.

EVENTS

The initiative includes events to recognize the winners of the international Awards, promote young music talents, and raise funds in favour of beneficiary projects for the education of children in need with art & science.

Bruxelles, Friday 28 October 2022

09:30-12:30 Online (via link in MS Teams) and at Italian Institute of Culture, rue de Livourne 38, 1000, Brussels, Belgium.
Workshop Leonardo 4 Children 2022 on climate, equality and peace with children and teenagers from all over Europe as well as Colombia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Ukraine.

Concert of classical music by exceptional young talents, children’s choirs, exhibition and Award ceremony of Leonardo 4 Children 2022 Awards. Non-profit event in favour of UNICEF.

By purchasing the books “Leonardo 4 Children” you can help to support the beneficiary projects, providing education on art and science to children in need: orphans, abandoned, sick or refugees. The book can be a solidarity present.

There are two editions of the books:

“Leonardo 4 Children: Climate Action & Gender Equality” (2021, 78 pages, € 15,00) which includes the wonderful works invented by children (fables) and teenagers (art & science projects) to address the issues of climate and gender equality who won the Leonardo 4 Children awards in 2020 and 2021;
“Leonardo 4 Children” with the fables of Leonardo da Vinci (2019, 64 pages, GIUNTI, € 10,00) which includes the wonderful contributions of children, teenagers and young composers who won the first edition of “Leonardo 4 Children” awards in 2019, and the 12 beautiful fables by Leonardo da Vinci illustrated by children and translated in Enlgish, French and Italian.

BENEFICIARIES

The funds and material raised by the initiative are entirely used for education in art and science of children in need, such as orphans, abandoned children, children without parents, sick children, children in refugee camps. The funds are entirely used to educate children in “art” and “science” with material and educational support by qualified professionals, via “implementing partners”.The beneficiary projects of “Leonardo 4 Children” are:Africa: Schools in recycled plastics and women’s empowerment in Ivory Coast (partner: UNICEF);Africa: Art, theatre & science for street and slum children in Kenya (partner: Action for Children in Conflict and Fondazione Pianoterra;Middle East: Art and music for children in refugee camps in Jordan (partner: UNICEF);Eastern Partner countries: Art and science for orphans and abandoned children in Ukraine (partner: Charity May);Europe: playtherapy for children in pediatric hospital in Florence (partner: Meyer); support with art and music to children in Turin (partner: MUS-E).Information on the progress and the results of these projects can be found here.
