WELCOME ADDRESS

Dear Colleagues,

What a EuGMS meeting in Athens 2021 – postponed from 2020 due to the pandemia, and then as a hybrid congress with a great success. Whereas the virtual Congress in 2020 focused on COVID-19 and the consequences for older adults and their families, the 2021 Congress also had a hybrid composition regarding the broad spectrum of topics. Now we all hope that during this year, the pandemia will have hopefully lost its strength and thereby impact on our lives both professionally and personally.

So, we all look forward to an enlightening and stimulating congress in London this year. Together with colleagues from the local organising committee led by Tahir Masud, the Academic Board under the lead of Mirko Petrovic until the end of 2021 and now the new Academic Director Antonio Cherubini, we have prepared and still are composing a varied and attractive programme with the theme “Better Together- Multidisciplinary Team Working”. With the help of our PCO Aristea, we know that also from an organisational point of view, the Congress will be an outstanding event.

The scope is broad as the “congress slogan” announces stimulating contents surely for everybody – clinicians, clinical scientists, trainees, educationalists and health service researchers. The programme will also provide information about state-of-the-art clinical practices, new data and views from different stakeholders. The outreach of the 2022 EuGMS congress will be wide and bright: during the last two years, we have learned – indeed not planned – new formats to interact both physically and virtually thanks to new technologies and we have also learned how to bridge these two aspects to guarantee that all persons can attend and actively contribute to our annual event. The London congress will therefore be an energizing platform for spreading geriatric expertise and attitudes across central Europe and beyond. We say so as in recent years, the outreach of the EuGMS has crossed the borders of Europe and starts to get global without forgetting its homebase.

So, we look forward to meeting all of you, colleagues and friends, new and old, in London between September 28th and 30th.

*In order to benefit from the special fee, a submission of your status confirmation (approval letter signed by the Head of Department or copy of your status ID) must be sent to the registration division via e-mail: eugms.registrations@aristea.com

The registration fee, per capita, includes 20% UK VAT for IN-PERSON participants and 20% FR VAT for ONLINE participants.
The registration fee will be invoiced within one month (end of next month) from the registration date.
Payments in other currencies other than EUR will not be accepted.

ABSTRACTS

“The Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of abstracts of original contributions to the Congress. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and may be selected for either oral or poster presentation.

All the accepted abstracts will be published in the Digital Abstract Book of European Geriatric Medicine (EGM) Journal, which is the official journal of the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS). We are pleased to announce that EGM Journal has been accepted for indexing and inclusion in PubMed/Medline. All articles published from 2018 will be indexed and searchable in PubMed.  

The Stefania Maggi Award for Best Early Career Abstracts

The best 3 abstracts submitted by early career geriatricians will be presented at a dedicated oral symposium, and awarded the annual Stefania Maggi Award. In order to be considered for this prestigious award, please select the “ECGI Category” as a keyword when submitting your abstract on the Abstract Submission page. 

The main author of the work should be a trainee, or with 10 years of becoming a consultant, or recently started a research career, in order to be considered “Early career”.  

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Abstracts must be submitted through the official online abstract submission system.
Any Abstract can be modified by clicking on the link in the confirmation email.
No faxed or e-mailed abstract will be accepted.
Detailed information for oral or poster presentation (time allotment, date, hour) will be sent by e-mail to the registered presenting Author.
At least one Author of accepted abstracts is required to register and pay the registration fee to ensure the rights for the presentation. EuGMS is unable to support any participation cost related to submitted abstract, including but not limited to registration, travel and accommodation.

Abstract format – authors and affiliation:

Organization should be abbreviated, with capitalization as in title.The submitting author must be inserted again in the list of authors if necessary.The submitting author is responsible also for the correct use of initials and surnames of their co-authors. Affiliations: all authors should have an affiliation, at least with a basic entry including the country.

Abstract format – text:

The abstract should not exceed 250 words.The structure of the abstracts should include an introduction, methods, results and key conclusions.The title of the abstract should be printed in initial capital letters followed by lower case.Abbreviations should be defined by being placed in parentheses immediately after the full word or phrase has been typed for the first time.No graphs, figures, tables or unusual symbols can be included.Place citations to references in square brackets, eg [1].If there are references after the abstract, there should also be citations to the refs in the abstract, and vice versa.Decimal punctuation is with a decimal point (in English), not with comma.Generic (nonproprietary) names should be used for drugs and substances.DOWNLOAD THE PROMO KIT
