Return to Learn Questionnaire As directed by the Iowa Department of Education, North Tama is planning to begin the new school year with on-site, in-person learning. Wednesday, August 26 will be the first day of school.The district will implement a frequent cleaning and sanitization routine in our facilities and buses following CDC guidance. Handwashing and the use of hand sanitizer will be taught and reinforced, and the personal use of cloth face coverings by staff and students will be allowed and encouraged. Students and staff who experience symptoms of COVID-19 will be directed to stay home, and those exhibiting symptoms at school will be sent home. We will implement all health and safety measures as directed by the Iowa Department of Education and will modify many routines and activities within the school to reduce possible exposure.While we will seek ways to reduce close proximity, schools simply cannot guarantee that physical distancing can be met in all school settings throughout the entire school day, during school activities, or in transportation systems. This is similar to when children congregate in the community. We are committed to implementing a wide range of preventative measures to reduce risk and to following Tama County Public Health s guidance.North Tama will also offer options for families that prefer more of a home-based instructional experience for their child(ren) due to a compromised immune system or for any other reason. We are asking families to complete the survey linked below to give us an idea of the number of students that might take advantage of home-based instruction rather than attending school in-person this fall. Your response to this survey is not a commitment, but it will provide valuable information for our planning purposes.
