Garofalo Return to Alphabetical Index Current Teaching Cloud Hands Blog by Mike Garofalo I am currently available for teaching private or small group lessons in the northeast Orchards area of Vancouver, Washington. I teach Qigong, Taijiquan, Yoga, and related health improvement lifestyles and viewpoints. I teach taijiquan (Yang 24 and 108, and Chen 18), qigong (many sets), hatha yoga, and related approaches to body-mind-spirit philosophies. It all depends on what you or a small group needs or wants, how you want to improve your health, your aims ... that, and some help from me, and you will accomplish your goals, feel and act better. and learn some ancient arts and ideas from the East. I live within two miles of the Orchards Market Center which is at the corner of NE Fourth Plain Road and NE 117th Avenue (Highway 503, Lewiston Highway) in unincorporated northeast Clark County, Washington. From 2002 to 2016, I taught many classes (up to 8 a week) in yoga, taijiquan, qigong, cane, and other fitness classes (spin cycling, weight training, mat pilates, Silver Sneakers, etc.) at the Tehama Family Fitness Center in Red Bluff, California from 2002 to 2017. I gave private lessons in Taijiquan and Qigong in Red Bluff from 2000-2017. I have many certificates from fitness and exercise training programs, and taijiquan and qigong workshops. In Vancouver, Washington, in 2017-2019, I have explored various Taijiquan, Qigong, Yoga, and Awareness Through Movement (Feldenkrais) classes. I have taken a few classes at Northwest Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong with Bill and Sandy, Taijiquan and Qigong with Sifu David Fetyko, and Feldenkrais with Christine Toscano. I met Sifu Brian Knack in Vancouver and Sifu Jeff Patterson in Portland. I met a number of Taijiquan instructors at the World Tai Chi and Qigong Day event at Clark College on 4/28/18. Yoga opportunities also abound in the area. Clark College offers many classes in these health practices. About 25% of the population is over 50 years of age of the 470,000 people in Clark County, Washington. Therefore, unlike in Red Bluff, there are many great opportunities for learning in our huge Portland Metropolitan Area. I retired in 1998 from my position as a Regional Administrator for the County of Los Angeles Public Library after 30 years of library services. I retired from my 24 hour per week job as the Technology and Media Services Supervisor and/or District Librarian, at the age of 70, for the Corning Union Elementary School District where I had worked from 1999-2016. I retired in 2016 as a yoga, qigong, taijiquan, and fitness class instructor at the Tehama Family Fitness Center in Red Bluff, California, where I had worked part-time from 2002-2016. I was gainfully employed as a librarian, manager, trainer, teacher, instructor, guide, leader, mentor, researcher, writer, and coach for 49 years. I am in fair health for a man of 74, but with less strength and stamina than at age 63. Nevertheless, carry on, get strong, and hopefully live on!
