Dalat’s curriculum and instruction provide a broad basis in general education and a strong preparation for university systems worldwide. 2020 Edition Available Now The Scrivener is a literary magazine compiled and edited by Dalat’s High School Creative Writing Club. Each year our school theme reflects some aspect of academic and personal excellence that remains a compelling focus for the school year. Dalat s Fine Performing Arts department nurtures creativity and an appreciation for the arts in young artists. As we journey through the pandemic, it will continue to be hard, but we will have small awesome things happen every day. The key is that we take the time to acknowledge them. We will continue to fear the unknown. There will always be dragons on our maps and in our minds, but learning how to slay the dragons can be a life skill for us to teach our children and ourselves. Science has estimated that 92% of the things we fear throughout our lives are not actually legitimate. Only 8% of our fears are rooted in reality. Our theme this year, Fearless , was chosen because it is important for us, especially during this moment in history, to teach our children about fear. Language Arts is so interesting this year. Mr. Chin somehow makes it fun! Dalat is so lucky to have him here. I look forward to that class every day. DALAT NINTH GRADER IMPRESSIONS Overheard at the Elementary Courtyard“The waitlist for the elementary school at Dalat is going to skyrocket when people see the new playground!” DALAT PARENT IMPRESSIONS Recently a kindergarten student gave Mrs. Anne-Marie Pagee a large envelope with two books he had written for children served by Care & Share. Mrs. Pagee brought them to the Shan Children’s Home, and the small children took turns reading the books. The exchange of giving and receiving was so precious and such a great example of our students looking outside themselves to bless others. CARE & SHARE IMPRESSIONS I love how everyone from the coaches to the admin to the teachers are ready to connect and mentor our kids. I can’t tell you how many bits of life wisdom and truth my kids have come home with that a staff person has cared enough to share with them. On top of this ‘heart,’ you are professional, and what you do you do with excellence and enthusiasm, and we have watched you volunteer extra hours all the time. SCOTTY AND HEIDI WISLEY, DALAT PARENTS IMPRESSIONS At the end of a probably long and tiring day, when a lot of homework still awaits, a Dalat student should be very thankful. We are to be thankful for every teacher who laid down a fashionable career to mentor and develop the lives of those under them. MATTHEW STRONG, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IMPRESSIONS Several teachers are connectors in our community who know where needs are and how our students can reach out and help meet those needs. They regularly organize trips to an orphanage, the old folks home, SKTT school near Tesco, and a host of other outings to provide outreach opportunities for our students. It is a joy to see students learning to use the gifts that they have in service to others.
