Leave Waterworks at 1pm.
Schyulkill River trail
E on Locust St
Loop Rittenhouse Square (riding, not walking through)
S on 19th St
E on Pine St
N on 7th St
Stop at Washington Square Park
(about 30 minutes: mingle, meet people, make your decisions for the ballots)
N on 7th

Third Anuual Philadelphia Tweed Ride: A brilliant display!


The weather could not have been better, the chaps more dapper, nor the lasses more snappy. One hundred twenty four dashing dandies and dames took to the streets to make Philadelphia, at least for a couple of hours, a tweedier, classier place to be.
Much thanks to everyone who came out and made the 3rd Philadelphia Tweed Ride a splendid time, to our gracious hosts at the Memphis Taproom and our prize sponsors.

Third Annual Philadelphia Tweed Ride
Saturday, November 13, 2010 - 12pm

The annual Philadelphia Tweed Ride is a leisurely ride through the most historical city in the Union, followed by old-timey games and merry-making to the highest degree.

Dapper attire is required.
(think Victorian/Edwardian era. period correct bicycles are not required, but encouraged.)

Starts at 12pm at Waterworks (behind the Art Museum).
Ends at Memphis Taproom

A note to Tweed Riders:

The Third Annual Philadelphia Tweed Ride is upon us! Dust off your finest woolens and tighten your chains. It's going to be a jolly good time.

Here are some final logistical points to know to make your day tip-top:

Registration starts at 12 noon at Waterworks. This year YOU are voting for the prize winners, so when you sign in you'll receive a numbered spoke card, a raffle ticket, and a ballot sheet to be handed in at the end of the ride at the Memphis Taproom. Use your time mingling at Waterworks to eye up the dog's bollocks in each category.
You must be at the Memphis Taproom when the prizes are announced to win.

The sheet will also contain a cue sheet for the route so you don't get lost. This means that there's no reason to run red lights or ride like a tosser. You'll always know where to go next. ( a preview of the route can be found above )

The Memphis Taproom will be offering a drink and food special for $15 which consists of two beers and a meal.The beers for the special will be restricted to two styles being served on the patio and the meal will have one meat and one vegan option.
The food will be served in the dining room in small parties (eat with some new friends) and the special price does not include gratuity so please tip your server based on a $9 menu item.
This deal will be available for CASH ONLY. The beers alone will also be available for cash at a slight discount.
You can, of course, also go to the bar to order from their smashing selection of fine ales.

As always, remember that this is an unsupported bicycle ride on public streets. You are riding at your own risk and should, for everyone's safety, be courteous to vehicles and pedestrians and obey all authorities and traffic laws.

Second Annual Tweed Ride: A smashing success!!
A rousing Pip! Pip! to all who attended. With one hundred splendidly spiffy attendees, the second Philadelphia Tweed Ride went off without a hitch, and merriment abounded.

Get Ready Your Woolens, Knickers, Brooks and Baskets! The Philadelphia Tweed Ride is a semi-annual leisurely ride through the most historical city in the union, followed by old-timey games and merry-making to the highest degree.

Saturday November 7th, 2009 Dapper attire is required.
Also, we'd like to encourage you to pick up a bell for your handlebars if you don't already have one. Most of our fine local bicycle shoppes have them available for mere toppins. We'll be pedalling through some areas likely to be swarming with Yanks and tourists and it would be a razzle to send up a chorus of the ringy-dingy!

Schedule of Events: 12:00pm: Meet at Water Works (behind the Art Museum) to sign in, take photographs and generally mill about. 1:00pm: The Tweed Ride begins! 4pm: Ending soiree at the Institute (12th and Green Sts) -- All are welcome to join us at this point - even if you don't dress up and ride.
