The Caller: Reagh Nixon /Nixon Promenaders /Champlain Steppers / Fundy Frolikers Square Dance Clubs Reagh Margaret Nixon...1967-1977 Reagh and Margaret Nixon started Square Dancing in 1965 with the Heart of TheValley Twirlers. In 1967 they started their own Group in Paridise Nixon Promenaders (Paridise- Hall),every Tuesday and Saturday night,also in the same year they started up a class in Annapolis Royal Champlain Steppers who met every Wednesday and Friday night. later that same year they started up another club in Digby called The Fundy Frolikers who met every Monday and Thursday night at the nights of Colombus Hall.I stop and think of how tired he must have been .. to work in the Nixon's Monument Mill all day on his hands and knees chisilling out letters on a tomb stone all day!..then to come home clean up,eat, spend time with the family,then go to Square dancing. Mom would have his clothes all laid out for him..and off they'd go..We..My sister Susan and I (Christine)would get to go every once in awhile,when they couldn't get a sitter and boy did we have fun watching..There was always a big lunch, tea and coffee and lots of laughter during intermission.In 1970 Reagh and Margaret moved to Lequille in Annapolis Royal after changing jobs to work at CFB Cormwallis as a Janitor at the Base Hospital until he retired 1984. Reagh (Dad) continued to do this 6 days a week for the next 10 years1967-1977..in Snow, Rain, Sleet and Hail ...there wasn't too many times it would be canceled!.. That what I call committed!.. Dance Held In Honor of Reagh and Margaret Nixon for the years of calling and fellowship..1967-1977 On June 7th,1980 the Champlain Steppers held a dance in Honor of Reagh and Margaret for all the years of calling and fellowship From 1967-1977 at the Annapolis Royal Fire Hall..Clarise and Harry Gregory presented Reagh and Margaret with a beautiful Quilt depicting square dancers.. dates 1967-1977.They were also presented a Plaque from the Nixon Promenaders.Clarise Gregory made another Quilt for the Fundy Frolikers to give to Reagh and Margaret for their years of fellowship..dates..1967-1972.
