Charles asks…

What should I use after bleaching my hair?

I just bleached my hair yesterday and now its very dry.

Ive been using One n Only Argan Oil Restorative Mask but i was curious if there was something better. or something natural that i could make at home or something that would be better than store bought?

Gary answers:

Something you could buy at the store is deep conditioner You leave it in for 10 mins and then wash it off Makes your hair shinier and softer Something that you can use at home is mayonnaise. Put it on for like 10-15 mins and itll also make your hair healthier

Ken asks…

Help me grow my hair!?

Hi. Ok so, Ive been trying to grow my hair for the past 4 months more or less and it lies right on top of my breasts but I want it below them. I have the Tresemme hair mask, I use one and only argan oil, I shower everyday but only wash my hair only 3 out of 5 days of the work days, I condition everyday because I have dry hair, I use garnier color shield because I dyed my hair and every other wash I use head and shoulders green apple, I wide comb on damp hair and boar brush on dry, I have minimum split ends but I notice them like no other, and other tips available? Id love to have longer hair before or beginning of summer (: thank you.

Gary answers:

Let me start by stating that there is not a shampoo or conditioner that promotes hair growth unless is it prescribed by a physician and contains either Rogaine, Minoxidil, or “Propecia”. The only draw back to using these products is you have to use them for the rest of your life. If you stop you will lose what the product has grown in.
Normally you will lose up to 100 hairs a day. The most common reasons for hair loss is ether medication, stress, or illness. If you feel your hair loss is excessive you should see your doctor to make sure it is not caused by the latter.
If you are male the only thing you can do is to eat a balanced diet high in protein and take hair and nail vitamins.
The only way you can grow healthy hair is to eat a healthy diet high in protein (Hair is composed of “keratin” hard protein) and take prenatal vitamins (If you are an adult woman.) I had a client who was pregnant and taking prenatal vitamins and her hair grew twice a fast as normal. It normally takes about 6 to 8 weeks before you start seeing results.
Do not forget to exercise regularly. Not only is it great for you but it will get your blood flowing and feed the follicles fresh oxygen.
Hair usually grows ¼ to ½ inch every 4-6 weeks.

Shampooing
When you shampoo your hair you should manipulate your scalp vigorously.
In order to grow healthy hair your scalp needs to be clean; by not shampooing you are defeating your efforts to grow healthy hair. I recommend shampooing every other day using a shampoo for chemically treated hair; even if your hair is not chemically treated. Shampoo that has been formulated for chemically treated hair has less detergent than a shampoo that has been formulated for normal hair. Detergent will remove to many natural oils and cause your hair to be dry.
Shampoo will not make your hair thicker. In order to do this the shampoo would have to create more hair follicles in your scalp; man cannot create a hair follicle.

Split ends
Also you need to have a trim every 6-8 weeks to prevent split ends. A hair follicle that has a spit end is damaged beyond repair. If you do not have your hair trimmed to get the split end off they will eat there way up the hair shaft like a “Pac-man” and you will end up with split ends from tips to roots. There is not a shampoo or conditioner that will repair a split end. The only repair for a spit end is to have it cut off. While there are shampoo and conditioners out that make the claim of repairing split ends all they do is put either a wax or plastic coating over the hair shaft; when the coating wears off the spit is back.

Thickening
There is not a shampoo or conditioner that will make your hair thicker. In order for this to happen the product would have to create a new hair follicles in your scalp. Man cannot create a hair follicle.

In closing let me state that trimming your hair will not make it grow. Hair does not grow from the tips like grass; it grows from the roots.

I have been a licensed, practicing cosmetologist for 37 years +.
Hope this helps.

Carol asks…

Is this bad for my hair?

I wash my hair every other day, I shampoo and condition apply argan oil to damp hair and apply a deep repair mask twice a week. But usually in the mornings my hair is a mess! so i wet it a little so i can get my natural hair texture(which is wavy). i wet it on a daily basis(only from mid-shaft to ends) and apply argan oil afterwards. Could this cause damage to my hair? I only style it once a week..
when i wet it all i put is water.. i dont add shampoo or conditioner

Gary answers:

Washing it a lot, dries out your hair.
So try to only do it 1-2 a week.

Chris asks…

Growing my hair past shoulder length?

I want to know if Im doing everything right in order for my hair to retain length and grow.
My Regimen:
Shampoo (LOreal Ever-Strong Sulfate-free Shampoo) and HE Hello Hydration Conditioner 1x a week
Co- wash with HE Hello Hydration Conditioner 1x a week
Deep Condition with One N Only Argan Oil Restorative Mask 1x a week
Moisturize with HE Long Term Leave-in and Seal with Argan Oil in the morning and before I go to bed daily and wrap my hair in a satin scarf every night

Thats my regimen. I have relaxed hair, but havent relaxed since February, but my roots are STILL super straight! Im relaxing it in the next week, then Im going on schedule of every 7-9 weeks.

I wear my hair in buns a majority of the time and tuck my ends under with a bobby pin. Am I doing everything right? Right now, my hair a little past my collarbone. I started really taking care of my hair last month and it HAS grown some. I want it to to the mid- back length.

Gary answers:

Well hair grows half an inch each month on its own. But what I would suggest it try using Mane N Tail Horse Shampoo and Conditioner. I use it all the timeand it does aid in growing your hair faster. Id say massage it into your scalp so it can get to your roots well this increases the blood flow helping it grow faster. When shampooing and conditioning you should use cold or luke warm wateron your hair so it wont damage it. Even hot water hurts your hair. You can find it at walmart in the pet section. You should drink plenty of water to help condition your hair. Eating Coconut oil also has benifits its not only good for adding nutrients to the hair, but its also
good for weight loss and has many more benifits.
And dont forget about exercising, as much as I hate it, it actually helps by increasing the blood flow and stimulating the hair to grow faster.

Hope I helped!

Jenny asks…

What shampoo conditioner should I use for my damaged hair?

Over a year ago I got blonde highlights, I had them redone 3 times. Instead of just highlighting my regrowth the hair lady would re-dye my already blonde highlights. So now my hair is over processed. Ive been growing it out for 4 or 5 months now. Mainly its just the ends on my top layer that are fried, they are so horrible looking! I can hardly straighten them and my bangs! Full of split ends almost to the roots! Ugh I know Im just going to have to keep trimming till all my split, fried ends are off but Im wondering what is a good shampoo conditioner that I should be using? I do a coconut hair mask once a week. I use heat protectant and either argan oil or a leave-in conditioner.

Gary answers:

I had a similar problem and i used Dove damage repair and it worked wonders on my hair!

Chris asks…

Argan oil for hair question?

Ive been using argan oil on my hair for the past few weeks, but i just ran out! is there anything i can use as a replacement until i get a new container? like olive oil? or something i would have at the house?

Gary answers:

I just did a treatment myself this morning. (I leave it on all day and overnight.) I was checking the bottle earlier to see how much I had left when I was done.

I order mine online so I appreciate your question. I noticed that some of the companies now have argan oil in their products in the store. You could buy one of them and use it like a leave-in conditioner. Or I would try either baby oil or if your store has it, mineral oil.

John asks…

Argan oil vs coconut oil for good skin?

Which one is better when applied as a mosturiser?

Gary answers:

Why would you apply any oil to your skin? Were we born with coconut oil in our skin? We were actually born with sebum in our skin, and the more oils you apply to your face, the less our body produces sebum to keep it from drying out. In affect, re-enforcing the belief that it works. The people that say they have a secret of staying young, are also people whose parents had good skin, whether they applied olive oil or not. Give me 2 wrinkly parents who dont drink, smoke, or sit out in the sun, and I will show you a future wrinkly child, regardless of the best moisturizer in the world. A good diet, lots of water, healthy fats, good genes, no smoking, drinking or sun worshiping. Thats all you need, as just like baldness solutions, anti wrinkle creams are linked to shareholders and profits. Not linked to actual proof. (except studies funded by moisturizing companies)

Sharon asks…

Is Agadir argan oil Good for skin to?

Just wondering

Gary answers:

Oil helps moisturize hair skin, thats about all.

Lisa asks…

Argan oil is it good for oily skin?

So all the talk about the miraculous argan oil. Has any one tried it? is it worth the price? Is it good for oily skin and hair?

Gary answers:

I love it, try AAASheaButter.eu,

Charles asks…

which oil is better for skin wrinkles out of these 2 oils?

vitamin e oil or argan oil?

Gary answers:

Both are good, but remember that pure Vitamin E oil can be comedogenic. I like Jojoba oil a lot. Or Sweet Almond oil. Good luck!

Carol asks…

Best oil for facial care (sensitive skin)?

Nobody agrees Some say jojoba, some macadamia, some primrose oil, argan oil, etc. Im allergic to coconut and shea butter. Which oil do you suggest? Thanx

PS) Is it true you can spoil your skin if you use oil as a moisturizer every day?

Gary answers:

Jojoba oil is supposed to be closest to your natural skin oils.

I personally use Olay for sensitive skin because it also has sunscreen in it.

Michael asks…

I bleach my hair a lot and its fried What can I do to fix the tips of my hair?

I color or bleach once a week I know it is bad but I dont want to show my black roots well of course from styling and bleaching my hair is dry and fried and I have a short hair cut so I cant really cut my hair that much what do I need to do to revive my hair how can I make it look healthy again I am using argan oil after I wash it and also have the mask have the brazilian keratin therapy for ironing my hair also use olive oil and stuff what else

Gary answers:

I used to bleach the bottom part of my hair about twice a month and after a while my hair began to get really dye and brittle. Just touching it would cause a bunch of strands of hair to fall out. My hairstylist recommend a shampoo and conditioner called H2 ION. It worked get and it made my hair soft and smooth again. The only bad thing was that it costAltot so when i ran out of it, i decided not to purchase it again. I did some research found out that i could get similar results if i would just keep my hair moisturized. I used Shampoos for damaged hair and i bought some serum called Biosilk. If your like me and cant afford to keep buying H2 ION i suggest to use Biosilk =)

Joseph asks…

Suggestions on how to help/prevent further damaging my hair ?

I have really thick hair, I got a bad hair cut almost a year ago and Im still paying the price . I got layers, ugh. Short ones! So it makes my hair thicker and so unmanageable for me. I also got blonde highlights 2 or 3 times and now my hair is fried. I stopped dying it and have been growing it out. Ive got about 4-6 inches of regrowth. Ive been getting regular trims Because I know I need to cut off the fried hairs. My hair is about shoulder length, Im trying to grow it out longer. I use to heat protectant and have re entry started using argan oil too. Ive also got some leave in conditioners, I dont wash my hair everyday bc I know thats bad for it. Still, my hair is so unmanageable! I have naturally straight hair, but my hair is so fried my hair looks poofy when it dries (I let it air dry too, no blow dryer) what else can I do to smooth out my hair when I style it? And what shampoos and conditioners should I be using

Gary answers:

Use shampoos that dont dry out your hair like hydrating ones. Dont shampoo every time you wash your hair. You can condition it without shampoo.

Lizzie asks…

How to keep hair straight all day? no poof?

I have naturally very very curly hair and I want to straighten it for the first week of school. I have a good straightener (Helen Of Troy) and heat protectant. What I dont have is something to keep it straight all day. Last year my hair would keep frizzing out and would poof like crazy. I was thinking about either using argan oil or hairspray. Can anybody recommend anything I can use? Im going to walgreens so it has to be something I can purchase at a drugstore. Im going to finish with hairspray either way though, so maybe a good one of those too? I was thinking Aussie or Garnier. Thanks ~

Gary answers:

I have the same problem! Use a no-frizz shine serum after straightening and a touch of hairspray. Also get Aussies 3-minute deep conditioner and use it like twice a week, it will overall help reduce frizz which is caused by lack of moisture.

Sandy asks…

HOW TO GROW YOUR HAIR LONGER? ?

I straightened and blow dried my hair for 3 years straight EVERY DAY! then i got SHORT layers.. and from straightening my hair the ENDS are fried and frizzy and since i have layers.. some of my hairs ENDS stop in the middle of my hair so i have all these random frizzys and it looks HORRIBLE! so sometimes when i straighten my hair it will straighten out the frizz and make it smoother but thats harming it in the long run even more.. so I decided to STOP straightening my hair.. and i wear it in a poney tail or scrunch it every day.. (boring eh?) anyways, my hair is STILL frizzy, and yes ive goten the dead ends cut off. still its EXTREMELY frizzy and i think once all my hair is one length it wont look as frizzy, but im trying to grow my hair out, so is there any special shampoos, masaging tricks, johnsons baby shampoo i heard? i dont know so that my hair will grow? And also ive been using argan oil on my hair after my shower then letting it air dry and it STILL drys frizzy.. so i dont know what to do any more? no stupid answers please.

Gary answers:

Im not kidding when I say this use horse shampoo. Mane and Tail is the best. I used to have the same problem, then a friend told me about it. I was just as frustrated as you and I thought she was crazy but I was at my ropes end about my hair so I decided to try it and I wont use anything else again. My hair looked great, Felt great and grew ridiculously fast.

Susan asks…

How do u get rid of straight frizzy hair?

I have straight extremely frizzy hair. Ive used john freida, argan oil, infusium 23, blow dryers, and a flat iron. They all dont work. My hair is only a little dry and a little damaged but where i live there is a lot of humidity. Everytime my hair gets wet it frizzes. Im white and i hav no idea wats going on and my hair didnt use to do this. help please!!

Gary answers:

Always rinse with the coldest water you can stand after using a shampoo and conditioner for straight hair. The cold water locks down the hair cuticle and makes hair appear slicker, less frizzy.

Use a weekly home remedy hair mask. Mix one egg to one part mayo and one part olive oil. Make a paste and apply to hair. Wrap hair in a towel and allow to work at least 30 minutes. Rinse out and shampoo and condition as usual. Hair will have a smooth, shiny appearance.

Blow dry methodically. This can take practice and time, but it is worth it. Use a big round brush that will allow you to smooth your hair as you dry. Always blow in a downward motion. Running the dryer over hair up and down causes the cuticle to frizz and split. Divide hair into sections with clips and dry one section at a time. Then use finishing wax or hair polish and rub it between your hands and then lightly rub your hands over your hair. You have to be careful not to apply too much as this could make your hair look greasy.

What is the difference between Argan Oil and Moroccan Oil?

I was checking out different sites for this oil and I keep seeing Moroccan Oil, Argan Oil, then Argan Oil sold by the Company, Moroccan Oil. Which is which??

Gary answers:

Yup, MoroccanOil and Argan Oil are the same. MoroccanOil Uses Argan Oil as its base.

Thomas asks…

Does leaving Argan oil overnight make your hair greasy?

I have Argan oil, I usually leave it for half an hour to an hour before showering, but is that giving the full effect of the argan oil? Should I leave it overnight, and if I do, will it make my hair greasy?

Gary answers:

Like so many things it depends upon how much. If you use just a small amount and massage into your scalp and equally through your hair lightly to the ends and leave overnight it wont leave your hair greasy. However, if you leave too much then it wont be easily absorbed and leave your hair feeling greasy and needing a wash. Moderation is the key. Whenever using oil, face, body, hair and even nails moderation is best. Argan Oil has fabulous moisturizer and hydrating properties, but the labels on your products should always provide clear concise application directions. Hope this helps!

Ruth asks…

Whats the difference between culinary grade and cosmetic grade of moraccan argan oil?

Im going to buy 100% pure organic argan oil but they have two types the culinary grade (u can use for cooking as well as cosmetic purposes) and cosmetic grade which you cannot use for cooking. I only need it for my hair, skin and nails, but wanted to know what is the difference and which one should i buy because i heard the cooking oil could actually be better for cosmetic purposes because its stronger or something. So wats the difference??

Gary answers:

Hi, its totally different for culinary grade argan oil and cosmetic grade argan oil.
The difference is that two of their production process, of course, also different ingredients.
If you are used in beauty, I suggest you buy cosmetic grade.

Robert asks…

Whats the difference between Morrocon Oil and Argan Oil?

I just want to know I used Morrocon Oil and then used it all up so I bought some argan oil and its just not as amazing lol Its still better then anything else Ive used (other then moroccon oil)

Gary answers:

There is actually no difference, just that one refers to what kind of oil it is and the other is the brand name. The oil is actually argan oil because it is produced from the kernels of the argan tree. Moroccanoil was the first company that produced and sold products based on argan oil.

Sandy asks…

Is Argan Oil from Morocco any good for facial skin?

Ive hear a lot about the benefits in Morocco of Argan Oil but does anyone use it regularly and vouch by it?
What are the benefits of it?

Gary answers:

Any oil that you simply apply to the skin is not going to benefit the face to any large degree. I have been using essential oils to massage face for a long time primarily olive oil and its the MASSAGING that actually benefits the skin.
It really is a miracle worker and has helped many on Answers. Search my Best Answers(Skin Conditions/anti aging/rejuvenation) and see glowing reports. Beauticians and others have fostered the idea that we should only gently massage but doing it quite firmly has only benefited users. It works in two ways. You have to tighten and flex the part being massaged and in doing so it exercises and conditions many face (and some neck) underlying muscles whilst skin is being firmed, tightened and made smoother by massage. Skin is constantly shedding and renewing. The invigorating massage speeds this up and forces a new, clearer and firmer and blemish reduced skin to quickly appear. It literally revitalizes and even rejuvenates the face. It helps prevents wrinkles and lines and can lessen existing ones and gives skin a radiantly healthy glow.
If you cannot find the very detailed massage instructions with a Search, please email me and I will gladly send them.

Sandra asks…

what are some uses for argan oil, besides the obvious ?/p

Gary answers:

What can be obvious to you may not be for others.

Argan oil is used in many cosmetics, for face, hair, and body. Health remedies, such as for acne and anti-aging, Food, used on bread or on salads, especially in Morocco and other Middle Eastern areas.

How do I use Moroccan Argan Oil?

I heard it was really good for your hair so I got some today but I dont know how to use it. Do I put it in when my hairs dry or wet? Or can I put it in either way? Please help!

Gary answers:

Yes you can use it wet or dry! Make sure you run it through your hair evenly though. It moisturizes my hair very well and I love it!

Mandy asks…

How do you use Argan vegetable oil?

My mom bought this for me in either spain, morroco or barlcelona, and i heard this os amazing for your skin, but i have no idea how to use it!!!!

Gary answers:

Google tells all!

James asks…

Using Argan Oil (Moroccan) with other creams?

is it okay to use any chemical creams whilst using argan oil, i dont mean at the same time but its just that the lady who sold me the oil said that when u wash your face in the morning, dont use chemicals because argan oil is natural, only use natural soaps etc. . is this the case? if i use a chemical based moisturizer during the day and argan oil at night will there be any serious effects?

Gary answers:

It is extremely good for your skin, hair etc.
I personally think that you can mix it. I sometimes use extra virgin olive oil on top of my moisturisers and it helps greatly. It goes straight into the skin and gives you lots of vitamins.
I am no fanatic so I mix both. Excellent moisturiser and extremely good for your skin.

Its organix moroccan argan oil shampoo. Apparently its all natural, and sulfate free. Plus it smells great. If not what else could I use? And can I put conditioner on my dog? Hes a springer spaniel, so he has feathers on his legs and chest and butt that get super knotted so I might need help detangling those areas. He stinks, so he needs a bath asap.

Gary answers:

Totally ok to use human shampoo, we use Tressemme on our Akita and Husky every time we bathe them. It wont hurt them at all, as long as you keep it out of their eyes, that hurts them just as much as it does you, so just be careful there. As far as conditioner is concerned, my friend has a chinese crested and she uses conditioner on him, and hes just fine.

Robert asks…

Will this shampoo help get rid of frizzy hair and control curls?

http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2690023

its called Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo.
Has anyone used it?

Gary answers:

I have used it, I think it helped me some, but I still had a little frizz. I dont even chave curly hair, so it depends.

Maria asks…

Which sulfate free shampoo is better?

I have recently started looking into getting a sulfate free shampoo, and really have no clue about what to look for. During my research I have come across two highly rated hair care lines. One is called Mastey Traite cream shampoo and conditioner. The other is called DermOrganic Sulfate-Free Conditioning Shampoo with argan oil. I have oily hair, so I dont know which one would be better for that. So any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Gary answers:

The sulfate free concerns (ie that sulfates will damage your hair) is just another lie made up by marketing departments trying to sell their overpriced products.

There is absolutely no problem with cleansing agents such as sodium (or ammonium) laureth sulphate its mild, gentle a very good cleanser for hair skin

The only sulfate to avoid is sodium lauryl sulphate (chemically very different to laureth sulphate ) this is a very cheap detergent which is irritant to the skin eyes. Almost no product uses this the only one I know of is that cheap formulation Mane N Tail shampoo (which as everyone knows does not make your hair grow)

Paul asks…

How to make coarse hair so smooth?

I have coarse and curly hair, I want to make it sooooo smooth its like silk! I am now using Organix argan oil shampoo conditioner plus the Ever Straight spray. (for a heat protectant when I flat iron) It gives my hair a shine but its still coarse. But it is the closest I have gotten so far. I want my hair sooo silky and smooth its not even funny. Any suggestions?

Gary answers:

Well that comment was mean. Anyway, I would suggest using a flat iron that goes up past 350 degrees. I have a straightner that goes up to 449 and it makes my hair from like a lions mane to an angelic smooth flowy do.
Use A Flat Iron Perfector . They also protect.
Any more questions? Alexandrang98@yahoo.com

Mark asks…

Products for overly bleached and damage hair ?

Id like to start off saying shut up about the bleach is bad dont do it. Obviously its already done. I just cut it off about 6 inches so I know that too. I dont need your negative comments. Im planning on ordering redken extreme sham and cond and anti snap. I have olive oil in my hair as we speak and Im using organics Moroccan argan oil shampoo and conditioner. Any other advice?

Gary answers:

I think you have chosen a fantastic range (Redken Extreme) it will really help restore your hair and strengthen it from further damage. To increase the moisture levels, you could invest in a really good quality leave-in Argan oil.

My recommendations:

Joico K-PAK Color Therapy Restorative Oil

William asks…

What are the positive/negative effects of argan oil?

So, after researching and reading about Argan oil (aka liquid gold!!) to help fight fine lines and skin damage, I started using Acure 100% Argan oil. Some of what I read indicated that you need to use it for about a month to start seeing results and that sometimes it can breakout your skin because there is a detox period before you see any results. I have very dry skin and although I loved the moisturizing effect it had on my skin I felt that it also was producing negative effects. It seemed to puff out my skin in some areas and also seemed to enlarge my pores. I have been using it as a night time moisturizer only for about 2 weeks now. But with my pores looking so large now I feel like I need to cut back on using it. Are these effects normal? Is my skin going through a detox period? There are so many amazing reviews of this stuff online that I feel like Im missing out on benefits! I wonder if I need to just keep using it and wait it out maybe I need to get through the bad to attain those amazing results everyone swears to! Any advice??

Gary answers:

I QUOTE:

Non-fragrant plant oil expressed from the kernels of rarified argan trees. Argan trees are extremely capable of adapting to severe environmental conditions, including draughts. Argan oil contains several beneficial lipids and fatty acids for skin, including oleic acid, palmitic acid, and especially linoleic acid. It is also a good source of vitamin E (Tocopherol) and, like several other plant oils, is a source of antioxidant compounds. Argan oil is a natural source of the antioxidant ferulic acid. The cosmetics industry is hailing argan oil as a restorative wonder owing to it use by Moroccan women for years to tend to their hair, skin, and nails. Despite the folklore stories (which is irrelevant because not all Moroccan women have great skin, hair, and nails, or use argan oil, not to mention different cultures in the middle east use different oils with mixed results); and limited availability of the trees (plus the difficult extraction process to obtain the oil) argan oil isn’t a miraculous ingredient by any stretch of the imagination.

The research on argan oil has shown that, like sunflower and olive oils, its fatty acid and antioxidant content has health benefits (such as lowering cholesterol) when consumed orally. As for topical use, there is limited information about argan oil’s unique benefits. One study examined a cream containing argan oil, saw palmetto, and sesame seeds to 20 subjects with combination to oily skin. Subjective and qualitative analysis showed that the oil was reduced by 20-42% depending on the inherent oiliness of various parts of the face. The study did not demonstrate that argan oil played a specific role in the results—all we know is that the random formula itself showed the benefit and it wasn’t compared to any other product so the results are irrelevant. Moreover, the cream was only used for four weeks, so we don’t know if ongoing use may have caused breakouts (and given the fatty acids present in argan oil, there is a possibility it can cause breakouts). Argan oil is a good plant oil to consider if skin or hair is dry to very dry, but is not better than many other non-fragrant plant oils used in cosmetics. (Sources: Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, June 2007, pages 113-118; Clinical Nutrition, October 2004, pages 1,159-1,166; European Journal of Cancer Prevention, February 2003, pages 67-75; and Journal of Ethnopharmacology, October 1999, pages 7-14).

What we know to be true at this point is that argan oil isnt the one oil to look for, nor is it the best (Source: Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, December 2010, pages 1,669-1,675).

Argan oil is the probable culprit for the enlarged pores that you have. There is no such thing and skin detox anything. Almost all oils contains lipids that moisturize skin, each oil has a different composition of certain lipids and a small amount of antioxidants. You should avoid argan oil if you have very oily skin. So, technically it is a negative if you have oily skin.

Richard asks…

Mary asks…

anyone tried oil treatment on their hair?

well, i know there are many oils for your hair, and i wanted to know some reviews if anyone has tried them, you see my hair is really tangled and damaged. but whenever my hair gets too soft my natural wavy/curly hair just goes quite straight. i was thinking of trying this argan oil which you can use on dry hair as well, or just any other oil on my hair. was wondering if they are any good+any advice on why my hair goes straight? thank you.xx

Gary answers:

Hot oil treatment does very little benefits to the hair.
There are more hair oil on the shelf now, than 30-40 years ago, and its because it is a billion dollar business! There are more hair loss now, too, than 30-40 years ago!

There are many hair oil brand out there, man-made oil, none is better than the other. It can very well even harm your hair, even causes hair loss, since you dont know exactly what kind of oil they say it is. In the lab, they add other ingredients that can prevent from spoiling.

It does NOT make hair grow, it does not make hair thicker, it does help keep the hair moisturized, until you wash them again, thats about all it does, theyre not glue to fix split ends, prevent, or reverse the damaged hair. Anything else they say on the label, it is to attract your attention. It is a billion dollar business and they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to abuse.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of Maharashtra is ready to go on record saying that most manufacturers in the Rs 3,000-crore Indian cosmetics industry are rampantly misleading consumers with tall claims. This affliction goes beyond hair oils. FDA has found that from face creams to soaps and other items of personal care, cosmetics companies are taking the general public for a ride. The industry, of course, sees the whole issue differently.

Washing less often, builds the natural oil your hair needs, to get them smoother, shinier, silkier, softer. Man-made products are just temporary, until you wash them again, and at the same time washing off the natural oil your hair NEEDS.

HAIR MASK, HAIR OILS etc.
Illl let YA POSTERS respond about hair mask: i have naturally black hair but i hate it so i dye it brown + blonde highlights .. And bcuz of that it got really super dry .. I use olive oil and bunch of different oils every week ( as a hair mask ) , and they do help but not that much.

And one from bad hot oil treatment:
I used a store bought hot oil treatment a week ago and the results I had were horrible. From the minute I rinsed it out I could tell my hair was in worse shape. It turned out dry, brittle, and very tangled. What can I do to fix the effects of the got oil treatment?

And one with seriously damaged hair:
My hair is ridiculously damaged, mostly due to the fact that Ive been coloring it or bleaching it for several years now. A few years ago, my hair was so badly damaged after a color reconstruction that it all broke off to about 4. Since then, its gotten longer, and Ive taken it back to the closest color to my natural one that I can get it, but it is still so broken that I dont know what else to do. Ive done hair treatments, hair masks, used several different deep conditioners, moroccan oil, and I only straighten it once a week- if that. Nothing seems to be working, and I just want healthy hair again.

Mark asks…

Is Sun-In really THAT bad?

I put Sun-In on my hair today while I was at the beach it wasnt that hot (cloudy outside) and when I came home I conditioned it with Argan oil and washed it out and once my hair dried it was a beautiful light brown with a hint of orange, i love it. But I was hearing really bad reviews on it like it damages your hair with its ingredients, is that true? If so will the product wash out the first time? What else should I do in avoiding damage to my hair? Thanks so much!

Gary answers:

You only used it once. No need to worry. It should be out with one shampoo. I highly doubt it damaged your hair. If youre worried, you could always use a deep conditioner. If you want to change hair colors, just dye it.

Michael asks…

What could give me similar results for a lower price than Wen?

I absolutely LOVE Wen. My hair is so much softer and my curls actually air dry as curls and not frizz since Ive started using Wen. However, it is wicked expensive for how much I have to use at a time. I bought the 6 oz Sweet Almond Mint and the Tea Tree and in 2 uses, both bottles are about 1/3 gone. I love it but at $18 a piece for the 6 oz, I cant afford to keep buying it. I have medium-long, really curly hair with really thick strands although the amount of hair I have has been lessening over the years. I was looking to Organix brand and Sally Beautys One n Only Argan oil. I dont know if Moroccan oil would be right for my hair, but I know I need something sulfate-free with oils.
Do you have any suggestions or personal recommendations? Ive been reading reviews all over the place but cant come to a decision. Thank you for your help!

Gary answers:

Sally actually has an alternative to Wen, called Hair One. You have to use a ton of it each time, too, but at least it costs less There are a few different types, and some have oil tea tree for oily hair, olive for dry hair, and argan, which says its for curly hair

Ive never used it, but working at a Sally I have recommended it to everyone who came in looking for Wen, and got so much positive feedback on it. All hair is different, though, so check out their little packet sizes so you can see if you like it

The One n Only Argan Oil line is amaaazing. That stuff I actually do use You can get a trial size of that, too

Steven asks…

What is the difference between Argan Oil and Moroccan Oil?

I was checking out different sites for this oil and I keep seeing Moroccan Oil, Argan Oil, then Argan Oil sold by the Company, Moroccan Oil. Which is which??

Gary answers:

Yup, MoroccanOil and Argan Oil are the same. MoroccanOil Uses Argan Oil as its base.

Betty asks…

Chris asks…

David asks…

Whats the difference between Morrocon Oil and Argan Oil?

I just want to know I used Morrocon Oil and then used it all up so I bought some argan oil and its just not as amazing lol Its still better then anything else Ive used (other then moroccon oil)

Gary answers:

There is actually no difference, just that one refers to what kind of oil it is and the other is the brand name. The oil is actually argan oil because it is produced from the kernels of the argan tree. Moroccanoil was the first company that produced and sold products based on argan oil.

Sandra asks…
