Monroe Charter Township is a charter township of Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the township population was 14,568. The City of Monroe is adjacent to the township, but is administratively autonomous. It is named after James Monroe, the 5th President of the United States.Located between the City of Monroe and LaSalle along the Lake Erie shore, Monroe Charter Township boasts residential, commercial and educational opportunities. Residents can apply to register to vote at the Monroe Charter Township offices which are also the voting location for the 5th and 6th precincts.The Monroe Charter Township Clerk s Office would like to dispel the incorrect information being shared throughout social media regarding the use of Sharpie markers on the ballot and the validity of your vote. Sharpie markers are actually the preferred method from the manufacturer due to the fact that they dry quickly. When the ballots are printed, none of the ballot marking circles on the front will coincide with any ballot marking circles on the back of the ballot. Any bleeding through will not affect your vote.
