A Message from the Executive Director OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 757-727-5340March 25, 2020Dear Hampton University Ministers Conference and Choir Guild Family,One of the chief responsibilities and utmost priorities of Hampton University is to ensure the safety and well-being of all who enter our campus gates, your Home-by-the-Sea. Year after year, many of you have for decades faithfully and loyally journeyed to Hampton for a week of rejuvenation, revival and restoration. We are grateful to you for you continued loyalty to the Hampton University Ministers Conference and Choir Directors Organists Guild Workshop. Once again, we thank you, tremendously.In these unprecedented times of the current global health crisis, with heart in hand, we regret to inform you that the 106th Hampton University Ministers Conference (HUMC) and 86th Choir Directors Organists Guild Workshop which were due to assemble June 7-12, 2020 are now cancelled. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of all who love and support this great work, we want you to know that this very difficult decision comes after much discussion by the university s administration and under the guidance of the Hampton University Infectious Disease and Prevention Working Group.As a result of the above guidance and consultation, the University has taken this nearly unprecedented step in the historical life of the conference. Since its founding in 1914, the conference has convened every year with the exception of once during World War I and once during World War II. Now, the conference will not convene for third time due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, which has resulted in the COVID-19 pandemic.Many of you have pre-registered for the conference. We invite you to carry-over your registration to participate in HUMC 2021. However, if you prefer, we will be pleased to issue a refund to you. Your request for a refund must be received no later than May 3, 2020. After that date, all pre-registration fees will be carried over to the 2021 conference.Thank you for your continued support of the Hampton University Ministers Conference-Choir Directors Organists Guild Workshop.
