It s a half-way house between free flight ( chuck it and chance it ) and radio control. Control-line models are physically flown by the pilot, who uses a handle and a set of thin steel wires attached to the aeroplane to give control over the height at which the plane flies, and to limit its flight path to a circle (usually 60 feet in diameter).Carrier-Deck is one of many different types of control-line flying. The picture below shows the structure, which is very cleverly designed to be strong yet light (love those geodetic wing ribs!) However, the kit is delivered in printed chunks with no dimension larger than six inches, so ultimately its strength depends upon how well you wield the CA!The most important changes to make the model suitable for C/L and Carrier were obviously the bellcrank unit and arrester hook. As there were no suitable strong points in the structure I added some engine-bearer for the crank and some aluminium doublers (the only parts joined with epoxy) to give the control system and hook a chance of survival!The Fuselage was built up vertically in sections Holes are made in the structure using a soldering iron rather than a drill (note the lead-out holes)Here s the bellcrank mounting, also the arrester-hook pivot that s attached to the bellcrank mounting by two threaded rods.The motor is a RacerStar high-performance job, with a 40amp YEP ESC and a 6S Turnigy battery.Never-exceed speed as an R/C model is 130mph hmmm!So here s the finished model awaitng a test flight hopefully soon!Am I demented?
