Covid-19 Update #2

The following is an update on the Chester County Health Department’s COVID-19 vaccine program as of Friday, February 26, 2021. As noted last week, the severe winter weather across the nation impacted the delivery of vaccine doses to many regions, including ours. So this week’s delivery from the State covers this week and last week. The total number of vaccine doses received is 7,840, made up of:

2,500 first doses and 3,000 second doses of the Moderna vaccine.

2,340 first doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

For the first time, the Chester County Health Department has received the Pfizer vaccine, which helps us to continue with first doses this coming week, while maintaining all second dose Moderna vaccine appointments (despite the State’s recent announcement of a shortage of Moderna vaccine second doses).More than 182,000 people are registered with the Chester County Health Department to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 97,869 people who are registered are in Phase 1A. We continue to administer vaccine to those in Phase 1A, and to those who have registered with the Chester County Health Department on or before January 7th. This date has not changed from last week, because first dose appointments were much lower last week (due to the delay in vaccine dose delivery caused by the severe winter weather).

Covid-19 Update #1

The Chester County Commissioners are working every day to advocate to the PA Department of Health of the need for more vaccines in Chester County.  We know that the process to try and find a vaccine has been frustrating and difficult and that there seem to be so many unnecessary obstacles.

We are the 6th most populated county in the state, and we are one of the top economic drivers in the state, so sending more vaccines our way makes sense. We have proven to the State that we have the skills and the resources within the County Health Department to vaccinate everyone who wants it, as quickly as we can obtain the vaccine, and in a way that reaches EVERYONE.  We have reserved spaces for many vaccine clinics throughout the county that combined, can immunize up to 33,000 people a week.  We have two mobile clinics to take into communities where travel by individuals for the vaccine may be a challenge.  And we are investing in scheduling software that will help to keep vaccine appointment bookings personal and secure.
