Summer Reading 2022 Kick Off

SBPL kicked off Summer Reading 2022: Stories Unfold on Saturday, June 11 at Kids World Alameda Park. The event celebrated the beginning of summer with performances and hula lessons from a real life circus performer, complimentary Kona Ice snow cones for participants, activities with friends from MOXI and SB Natural History Museum.

Santa Barbara Public Library Honors Juneteenth

This summer, SBPL honored Juneteenth by highlighting our local Black community. Former Santa Barbara Poet Laureate Sojourner Kincaide Rolle shared her recently published picture book, Free At Last: A Juneteenth Poem, illustrated by Alex Bostic. The free verse poem traces the story of the first Juneteenth to contemporary celebrations.
