About the filmmaker
Julia Barnes is an award-winning documentary filmmaker based in Ontario, Canada. For as long as she can remember, Julia has loved the natural world, but it wasn’t until she was 16 that she realized it was in serious jeopardy.
“Rob Stewart's documentary Revolution changed my life.In it, I learned that the world's coral reefs, rainforests and fish are expected to be wiped out by mid-century. A week later, I decided to dedicate my life to activism. I bought a camera, learned to dive, and set out to make a documentary about what’s happening to the ocean. Because a film had a huge impact on me, I wanted to use film to inspire more people to get involved.”
