It has profound beneficial effects for trauma, both physical and psycho-emotional, with therapeutic application for neuromuscular injuries, stress, chronic pain, discomfort during pregnancy, and special needs. The Watsu Round brings people together. Take turns as holder, held and helper whose oversight frees the holder to explore with Watsu's basic moves, eyes closed, how deep we are connected. Harold Dull Harold started Watsu in 1980 at Harbin Hot Springs in California where he taught the Zen Shiatsu that he had studied with its creator, Shizuto Masanaga, in Japan. In Zen Shiatsu stretching someone unblocks and balances the energy flowing through their body more than Shiatsu's traditional work on points. Harold found warm water to be the ideal medium for this. He also found that the holding required to float someone takes them to a level of healing beyond that of touch. The same year Harold brought Watsu's unconditional holding, back onto land in Tantsu. In Watsu and Tantsu, while being stretched, someone's whole body is so contained, they find it safe to access every level. WABR The Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Registry. When Harold, and others who joined to help develop Watsu and Tantsu, were invited to teach around the world, Harold began a Registry to list classes and practitioners on the internet, and to store authorizations to practice and teach. Today more than 20,000 from 90 countries have transcripts on the Registry. Find practitioners, classes and instructors on the Registry to ensure they are fully trained and that their classes can be added to your transcript and applied to becoming authorized to practice or teach Watsu, or one of the other forms of Aquatic Bodywork whose authorizations are also listed on the Worldwide Registry. Aquatic Bodywork Many forms of aquatic bodywork have developed out of Watsu such as Waterdance and Healing Dance. All of their authorized instructors appear on the Registry.
