Many of you havefaithfully partnered with us since our journey began with Campus Crusade forChrist in 1987. Your faithfulness tous and ultimately to God has throughout these 20 years been a tremendousencouragement to us. Together ourpartnership has impacted the lives of Nigerians both medically and spiritually,for which God receives the glory.As you cansee, we are not the same people we were when we first went to Nigeria.We’ve changed not only physically, but in every dimension of life.Much has transpired in our lives and in the lives of Nigerians God hasallowed us to touch. Now God has ledus in a new direction, as Tom begins work in the Family Medicine Department atthe Mayo Clinic in August. Afterdebriefing, our service with Campus Crusade will end on July 16, and yourdonations to our account can cease. Wewill direct any money that remains in that account to the ongoing ministry inNigeriaAlthoughour full-time relationship with Campus Crusade will end, we will continue topartner with the international Family Life ministry to train nationals aroundthe world in building movements of multiplication through Home Builders groups.Passing the baton ?nbsp;We areelated to pass the baton of foreign missions to our oldest son Aaron. He hasbeen accepted by SIM (Serving In Mission) to work 1-2 years in Niger, one of thepoorest countries in the world. OnlyGod could have orchestrated that as we left West Africa, one of our childrenwould return as a tangible legacy of our years invested there.We have encouraged him to share with you his opportunity to serve afterhe completes his training in July.BackgroundDr. Tom and Rosie Thacherserved with Campus Crusade for Christ inNigeria, West Africa, from 1988 to 2007. As a medical doctor, Tomdirectedthe Family Medicine residency program at the Jos UniversityTeaching Hospital. Tom trained Nigerian doctors in research with the aim of findingsolutions to medical problems largely ignored by developed nations. In additionto his medical vocation, Tom worked to makeChrist known within the university hospital. Rosie worked with students with learning disabilities through the NILD program atHillcrest School in Jos and led women's Bible studies.Together, Tom and Rosieled couples throughHome Builders Bible studies as part of the Family Life Ministry,which aims to help couples understand God's design for marriage. Throughsmall group discussion, weekend seminars, and practical projects, couples arechallenged not only to strengthen their own marriages but to lead other couplesthrough the same material.Tom met Rosie at the University of Utah while she wasserving with Campus Crusade for Christ. Rosie had been involved in campusministry for six years. They married while Tom was inmedical school in Utah. In 1984 they moved to Ventura, California, where Tom did hisresidency training in Family Practice at the Ventura County Medical Centerbefore heading to Nigeria.
