Starzology 2022 Astro Planner

For the past three years Ive created an astrology guide for the specific year.

The guide was originally created for my astrology students and it included the ingresses, retrograde cycles and eclipses.

Previously I made the guide available as a PDF download directly from this site, but this year Ive created it as a notebook which is available from Amazon.

My guide is now called the Starzology 2022 Astro Planner Astrology for self-care.

This means it is easier to order and you can receive a physical item and not just it in digital form.

It is as a planner, with monthly and weekly pages like a diary or notebook.

Previously there was no space for notes and many of you have asked for that, so here it is.

The idea is that you make this planner your own. Colour in the months pages and add your transits on the weekly pages.

I explain how I use this planner and you can add your information, color and  embellishments as well.

The Starzology 2022 Astro Guide and Planner contains information for anyone interested in astrology.

The spreads are the exact ones that I use each month for horoscope work and forecasting, which I draw in my journal and you can see more of that in this video.

Lammas Dates

Lammas is typically celebrated on August 1st each year.

However, it is more correct to say that Lammas is when the Sun reaches 15º of the fixed sign of Leo the lion.

In 2021, the Sun will be at this position in the zodiac on Sunday, August 8th.

To be honest, it does not really matter that you celebrate Lammas at the exact time, but that you celebrate at all.

Often in the civil calendar, if a public holiday falls mid-week we celebrate it on the Sunday that follows or the Sunday beforehand.

An example of this is Remembrance Sunday which technically occurs on November 11th every year, but which is always taken as the closest Sunday to that date.

Ive drawn a page for Lammas in my astrology journal.

It is a sheaf of wheat that symbolizes the early harvest of the first sweet ears of cereal in August that is used to bake the Lammas Loaf of bread.

Im trying to focus on one symbol for each festival in the Wheel of the Year.

Lammas celebrates the baking of the first loaf of bread with the current years wheat.

It signifies bounty and good food and prosperity to come.

But lets face it, in the modern world if you live in a city like I do you just go down to the corner store and pick up some bread thats already baked.

Personally, Im not in the habit of making my own bread, but when I do, it is at Lammas that I bake.

My daughter has recently started baking bread and Im going to share the recipe she uses with you here.

This simple method uses three ingredients bread flour, yeast and salt.

You may have a family recipe and that would be an ideal one to use for your Lammas first loaf.

In the week running up to Lammas, my daughter baked several loaves which our whole family enjoyed.

She brought a Lammas loaf over to my home by travelling on the train, as the trip is quite far, but I truly appreciated her gesture.

Your Lammas loaf is best consumed when still warm.

I like it slathered with butter or, for a special treat, honey.

It is the type of food you can keep snacking on long into the evening.

The next day bread can be a litlle harder as it has lost its initial softness and springability.

I choose to cut next day bread into thinner slices and toast them.

Always try to get your Lammas toast golden and not charred.

Enjoy your slices with tea or coffee as a great mid-morning snack.

The Wheel of the YearDiagram

The wheel of the year is a diagram that shows the Suns movement through the twelve signs of the tropical zodiac from Aries to Pisces.

You can draw a wheel of the year in many ways, but they still represent the passing of time throughout a twelve-month period.

Typically, the diagram flows clockwise like time on a clock face, but astrologers flow them counterclockwise to align with the zodiac from which the dates originally come and the rising of the Sun at the Ascendant.

The special eight celebration days have been used for centuries in many cultures around the world.

If you draw your own wheel of the year, you can color it and add the symbols that resonate with you.

In the modern world, there is no right or wrong way to tap into this ancient calendar.

Follow your instincts and create a wheel of the year diagram that speaks to you.

As an astrologer you would typically draw the wheel of the year in your astrology journal.

If you are more of a pagan, you can create your wheel of the year in your book of shadows or grimoire.

We have watched the Sun mark time as it rises and sets every day.

At a broad stroke, the Suns rising position on the horizon moves slightly each day.

The daylight hours are longer in summer and shorter in winter.

Every year the Sun transits through the 360º of the tropical zodiac, and in its passing, marks special days in the year.

The Suns path crosses the four cardinal points each year which mark the beginning of the four seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Please note that these dates are for the northern hemisphere.

The four quarter days divide the year up into four quarters.

They are the dates of the two equinoxes and two solstices.

The cross-quarter days divide each of the four quarters of the year.

The cross quarter days are midway between the equinoxes and the solstices.

These dates are around the 8th of the inbetween months and each year is slightly different.

The definition of a cross-quarter day is when the Sun reaches fifteen degrees of the fixed signs.

Around March 21st, the Sun crosses the celestial equator at 0º Aries, moving north for three months.

It is the Aries ingress and this is springtime.

The pagan celebration of Ostara is aligned with the equinox when the day and night is the same.

The pagan festivity of Beltane is the day the Sun reaches 15 º of Taurus.

This is often celebrated on May 1st each year.

Around June 21st, the Sun reaches its highest declination at around 23.5º north at 0º Cancer.

Now the Sun moves back towards the celestial equator for three months.

The Cancer ingress heralds summer.

The pagan celebration of Litha is on the midsummers day which is the longest day of the year and the day with the most sunlight.

As the Sun reaches 15 Leo, which is typically on August 8th, it is the cross-quarter day of Lammas.

However, the pagan celebration of Lammas is usually celebrated on August 1st.

Around September 21st, the Sun crosses the celestial equator moving south at 0º Libra and continues for three months during autumn or fall.

The Libra ingress happens at the autumn equinox and the start of the new season.

The pagan celebration of Mabon is usually celebrated on October 1st which is a date close to the equinox.

The pagan celebration of Samhain is when the Sun passes over 15º of Scorpio, which is around November 8th.

In general, this special day is usually celebrated on October 31st as Halloween.

All Saints Day follows of November 1st.

Around December 21st, the Suns declination reaches around 23.5º south as it enters 0º Capricorn.

Now the Sun moves back up towards the celestial equator which takes three months and it is wintertime.

As the Sun enters Capricorn it is known as the Capricorn ingress when the winter season begins.

The pagan celebration of Yuletide is celebrated on midwinters day.

Imbolc occurs when the Sun reaches 15 degrees of Aquarius which is usually around February 8th, although Imbolc is celebrated around February 1st each year.

One symbol for Imbolc is Brighids cross made from wheat sheaves or corn dollies.

As an aspiring astrologer, it is valuable to understand when the dates for the cardinal signs and the cross-quarter days happen as they shift a little each year.

These special days are not just plucked out of thin air.

Often at the start of a new season, the news channels will state that, Spring is starting on March 21st at 4:37pm and this statement may seem weird.

Now that you know how each season is timed (by the Suns ingress into a cardinal sign), you can fully understand the seasonal changes and the cross-quarter days that occur at around six-week intervals.

If you are just starting out, pay attention to the equinoxes and solstices first.

Then explore the cross-quarter days afterwards.

The whole year begins at the vernal equinox when the Sun enters Aries around March 21st every year.

Lunar Nodes

The Lunar Nodes are points in a chart and they are an interesting part to the whole story when you read a chart.

When I first started doing astrology I was not thrilled with lunar nodes as a concept as I was more interested in solar astrology being a Leo.

Over time I learned to understand the Moons nodes better. 

It just goes to show that not everything in astrology is interesting to everyone.

You need to find your focus as well.

The Suns path is called the plane of the ecliptic.

The Moon’s path is angled at close to five degrees to the plane of the ecliptic.

The Moon crosses the plane of the ecliptic twice a month, once traveling north and once going south.

The Moon’s north node is found at the point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic moving north (NN).

The Moons south node is located at the point where the Moon crosses the Suns path moving south (SN).

When the Sun is near the conjunction to the nodes there is the chance of a solar eclipse or a lunar eclipse.

This occurs roughly every six months as the Sun moves halfway around the zodiac and goes from one node to the other node.

In your chart, the Moon’s nodes are an axis with the north node at one end, and the south node at the other end.

Some charts only show the north node and you can determine the South Node’s position as it is always directly opposite the north node.

The mean node is the average placement of the Moons nodes.

The Moon’s mean nodes are always retrograde as they precess through the signs in longitude.

The Moon’s true nodes can be direct, stationary or retrograde.

The Moons nodes precess (or move backward) at a rate of approximately 18.6 years through the whole zodiac.

At age 19, 38, 56, and 75 when the nodes return to their birth position, you will experience a nodal return.

The lunar nodes spend around eighteen months in each sign.

All the planets (except the Sun) have north and south nodes.

For example, Pluto’s nodes are at +/- 20 degrees Cancer and Capricorn.

The planetary nodes are not exactly opposite each other in the chart.

The north node is also known as the dragon’s head or Caput Draconis.

Connections to new people are shown through your north node.

Meetings, get-togethers, and rendezvous are likely to happen.

The north node is concerned with things that occur at a hub (computer routers, airports).

The north node shows your current incarnation in this life. It suggests your karmic objectives.

The north node is related to consciousness.

The north node indicates your future path and where you can grow and evolve.

The south node is also known as the dragon’s tail or Cauda Draconis.

The south node suggests connections with people from your past.

It indicates the things that you already know. The south node shows your past incarnations – past lives.

This point is related to unconsciousness and sub-consciousness.

The south node clearly shows your past and your past lives.

It is a place where stagnation can take place.

The north and south nodes are usually interpreted as an axis.

In your natal chart, the nodal positions are referred to as personal eclipse points as they show where the eclipses would have been that year.

The zodiac degree of the north and south nodes is known as your nodal degree, and any planet on that degree is vital in the nodal interpretation.

If a planet aspects one node it usually also aspects the other node, except for some of the trine/sextile combination as the sextile aspect orb is only 4°and the trine is 8° degrees.

Any planet conjunct a node will influence the nodal axis in a meaningful way.

This planet suggests that you are being pulled forward in life (north node conjunction) or by being held back by your past (south node conjunction).

Planets square will aspect both the north and the south nodes in a square and will in a way stop either future or past dominating the life.

This person may not move forward without significant challenges.

The north node in Aries fears but should push towards, independence.

The south node in Libra falls back to the partner to find balance.

The north node Taurus fears but should push towards, stability.

The south node in Scorpio falls back on reliability.

The north node in Gemini fears but should push towards communication.

The south node in Sagittarius falls back on adventure.

The north node in Cancer fears but should push towards self-reliance.

The south node in Capricorn falls back on the tried and tested.

The north node in Leo fears but should push towards creativity.

The south node in Aquarius falls back on being awkward.

The north node in Virgo fears but should push towards, kindness.

The south node in Pisces falls back on the sympathy of others.

The north node in Libra fears but should push towards, finding a partner.

The south node in Aries falls back on attacking others.

The north node in Scorpio fears but should push towards, transformation.

The south node in Taurus falls back on resisting change.

The north node in Sagittarius fears but should push towards, philosophy.

The south node in Gemini falls back on empty comments and gossip.

The north node in Capricorn fears, but should push towards, setting goals in life.

The south node in Cancer falls back on withdrawing to home.,

The north node in Aquarius fears, but should push towards, being humble.

The south node in Leo falls back on arrogance.

The north node in Pisces fears, but should push towards, empathy and support.

The south node in Virgo falls back on criticism.

The north node in the first house is the quest to take a leadership role.

The south node seventh house is the quest to influence others.

The north node in the second house is the quest to establish personal security.

The south node in the eighth house is the quest to enable others financially.

The north node in the third house is the quest to know before speaking your mind.

The south node in the ninth house is the quest to realize that knowledge is already in you.

The north node in the fourth house is the quest for security in life.

The south node in the tenth house is the quest for a status-conscious family.

The north node in the fifth house is the quest to procreate and take risks in life.

The south node in the eleventh house is the quest to find allies.

The north node in the sixth house is the quest to have a satisfying work ethic.

The south node in the twelfth house is the quest to understand the meaning of life.

The north node in the seventh house is the quest for a partner.

The south node in the first house is the quest for self-happiness.

The north node in the eighth house is the quest for deeper understanding.

The south node in the second is the quest for self-respect.

The north node in the ninth house is the quest for knowledge. The south node in the third house is the quest for learning.

The north node in the tenth house is the quest to do well in life. The south node in the fourth house is the quest to be supported by your family.

The north node in the eleventh house is the quest to collaborate with others.

The south node in the fifth house is the quest to be sure about things.

The north node in the twelfth house is the quest for understanding.

The south node in the sixth house is the quest for daily work.

A Saturn return is a specific time when Saturn completes a full round around the Zodiac and finally returns to its original position. You can find its origin position based on your birth date. A Saturn return is significant because it happens only once every 29.4 years!

Each return lasts for 2 and a half years each, so you should experience your Saturn returns around ages 27, 57, and 87. Significant changes are bound to come your way at this time, and it would be prudent to make the most of it.

Saturn, Capricorns ruling planet, governs matters of time, structure, order, and law. It is the embodiment of stability, and so its movement can cause major shake ups in your life.

Whether it’s your love life or your career, or even your relationships with friends or family, Saturn brings big changes in its wake.

So you’d best get comfortable because it’s about to get uncomfortable.

A Saturn return is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, you can expect to have to leave your comfort zones. But on the other hand, leaving your comfort zones can free you and allow you to grow even further. Saturn’s return brings hard-earned lessons, but they are critical if you are to remain true to your karma.

And don’t think you can run away from all of this, either. You may be able to hide away and twiddle your thumbs for this return, but you’re only delaying the inevitable. Not only have you not grown at all, but Saturn will be back the next go around. So best take your lumps now and come out better for it!

With that sobering thought in mind, here are 6 things you can do during your Saturn return. If you make the most of this time, you’ll definitely be well on your way to being a better person living a better life.

The first step to maximizing this unique time of growth is to reflect upon yourself. It’s a good time as any for you to take stock of your life and see where things went right and where things went wrong.

It’s best if you take your time with this one and be completely honest with yourself. Even if it’s hard, you need to take a look at the things you’ve been avoiding up until this point.

Of course, you don’t need to have all the answers from the word go. But by asking these questions, you put yourself in a mindset of improvement and resolution. It means that you are aligned with Saturn’s influence and are ready to learn your needed lessons.

Of course, no one goes at it alone. There will be times where you will find yourself at your breaking point. And for these times, you will need to call upon others for help.

Ironically, this may be the time where you feel the most isolated. With that in mind, remember that your support system will be there for you. Your friends, your family, and anyone you are close to are there to help you along your way.

Don’t be afraid to reach out. Get counseling, therapy, a checkup, whatever you need. And always remember, you are not alone.

Your return will test all facets of your life. Not only will you face tests spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, but also physically.

Like the last section advises, now is not the time to be ignoring your health. You are strong, and you’re always growing stronger, but you aren’t invincible.

Make sure to eat healthily and stay active. Don’t skip your checkups, and stay on top of any health issues before they get worse. If you are in good working order, the stresses of life will train you instead of break you.

The last few sections may have seemed grim, but they’re good warnings so that you avoid common pitfalls. Additionally, this is also a time of growth and beauty.

Examine yourself and your life from time to time. While things may seem uncertain, always acknowledge the progress you see and the progress you don’t. Celebrate your little victories. Celebrate them alone and also with others.

Keep joy and gratitude in your heart, and it will bolster your resolve. The fruits of your labor are yours to enjoy, so don’t deny yourself that.

Never forget that Saturn’s return is a time of great upheaval. So prepare yourself and let go of preconceived notions.

By the end of your return, you may be very different from who you used to be a long time ago. Things that used to be familiar to you may feel alien now, and you might not even recognize your past self!

With that said, every plan looks like a disaster in the middle. And you may definitely feel like you’re in one when you start your return.

Keep an open mind and trust the process. Things are not always what they seem, and you may need to make some violent sweeping changes to grow as a person.

Last but definitely not least, you need to know what you want. The first tip works to center you and provide you with a starting point. This last tip reminds you to give yourself direction.

Once you’ve cleared yourself up and have steeled yourself to being a better person, take some time to be sure of what you want. Sure, it’s easy to say you want to “be better” or “live a better life,” but what does that even mean?

Take this time to think about the things you want. Formulate plans to achieve your goals. Manifest your desires in your thoughts and actions.

You can keep yourself on track by doing this sort of reflection every few months or so.

Your dispositor tree shows the back story and how the energy is flowing behind the scenes of your chart.

When you draw a dispositor tree, you lift the veil and can see dynamic links joining planets that are not seen on the main chart.

This can provide you, as an aspiring astrologer, insights to the person and how they really operate.

A dispositor tree is a diagram that shows the connections between the planets in a chart.

This is done by their essential dignity position and specifically their dignity or rulership of signs.

A planet that rules a sign is the dispositor to any planet in that sign.

Typically, we only use the visible planets for dispositor tree creation as dispositors, although we do add the outer planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto into the tree.

The seven visible planets are; the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

Dispositor trees have a top tier, middle tiers and bottom tiers.

The stronger placed planets are at the top of the tree.

A dispositor tree can have a little as one planet or as many as ten planets in it.

A planet will dispose any planet in its own sign.

Planets in the sign of their dignity cannot have a dispositor.

Planets that dispose others are drawn vertically.

The disposing planet is placed on a level above the planet being disposed.

Example:

Venus disposes Uranus in Libra and Venus is Uranus’ dispositor as Venus rules Libra.

Two planets are said to be in mutual reception when they are in the signs of each other’s dignity.

Mutual reception relates two planets even if they are not in aspect.

Mutual reception joins the pair in a supportive relationship and allows their energies to work together.

Planets in mutual reception are drawn on the same level horizontally.

They have equal strength to each other.

A double ended arrow joins them.

Example:

The Sun in Cancer and the Moon in Leo are in mutual reception.

Circular dispositor chains can be found in a chart.

Three or more planets can be in a circular dispositorship chain.

Example:

Mars in Leo, Jupiter in Scorpio, and the Sun in Sagittarius form a circular dispositorship.

You still draw them on the same level as they have equal weight in the dispositor tree.

A disposed planet will also dispose any planets in its sign, and this can form a chain of dispositorships.

In some charts there is a final dispositor.

This is the planet which is in its own sign and the dispositor chain falls below.

The final dispositor is a powerful placement for any planet and it should be noted in the chart analysis.

Example:

The Sun disposes Jupiter in Leo, Jupiter disposes Saturn in Sagittarius etc.

This planet is only found on the top line of the dispositor tree.

Location definition; a top planet may link to other planets through links below only.

Possible planets in this location are the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter or Saturn. In other words, the visible planets only.

The top planet may only be the final dispositor, a planet in rulership, or a top line mutual reception planet, or a top line committee tree planet.

Top planet location keywords; leads, takes, drives, extroverted, masculine and positive.

The top planet has affinities with; the cardinal mode, the angular houses, the Midheaven, and the fire element.

The top planet energy is expressed through; taking action, beginnings, the future, and being available.

A middle dispositor tree planet is only in the middle of the dispositor tree.

Location definition; a middle planet must link to other planets through links both above and below.

Possible planets in this location are the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter or Saturn. In other words, the visible planets only.

A middle planet may not be in dignity, but may be in exaltation, detriment, fall, or peregrine.

A middle planet may also be a “Gateway” planet, which is one with three or more planets below it, so it acts as a gateway for their energies.

Middle planet location suggested keywords; does work, gives and takes, a conduit, links, connects. joins, and neutral.

Some affinity for a middle planet is indicated with the astrological meanings of; fixed mode, succedent, the air element, nodes, and 1st/7th axis.

The planetary energies of a middle planet are expressed through: Being acted through, within, and the present.

This planet is only in the bottom of the dispositor tree.

Location definition; a bottom planet must link to other planets through links above only.

The possible planets in this location may be all the visible planets and outer planets Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, including Chiron, the Asteroids, TNO’s and Eris etc.

A bottom planet may not be in dignity, but may be in exaltation, in detriment, in fall, or peregrine.

Bottom planet location suggested keywords; supports, serves, gives, introvert, accepts, feminine, and the negative polarity.

Some affinity for a bottom planet is indicated with the astrological meanings of the mutable mode, cadent houses, the IC, the water element, and the northern hemisphere.

The planetary energies of a bottom planet are expressed through being acted upon, endings, the past, and waiting to be asked.

Number of planets in the tree = ten

The final dispositor tree’s relationship to natal chart’s planetary energies, cohesive energies and works as one unit.

Tree structure suggested keywords; A focused individual, pulls towards the common good, the whole chart is connected, subjective, and works as one “team.”

Internal decisions are made by; dictatorship, president, and hierarchical.

Only one planet in the single planet in rulership tree.

Trees relationship to natal chart’s planetary energies; an important planet, not integrated, and consider any aspects.

Tree structure suggested keywords; the purest form of energy, a wild card uninhibited, highly specific house meaning, and similar to an unaspected planet.

Internal decisions are made by; a wild card and can be the joker?

Number of planets in the tree is less than ten

The planet in rulerships dispositor trees relationship to the natal chart’s planetary energies; this is a strong placement, always check the link aspects to confirm any connection.

The planet in rulership dispositor trees structure suggested keywords are; independent, and solitary

Internal decisions are made by, vice president, and the second in command

In this tree there will be from two to ten planets.

The mutual reception dispositor tree’s relationship to natal chart’s planetary energies suggest there are two teams with related alliances. This person may be conflicted by the two sides of the mutual reception as the planets below will be on their team.

Mutual Reception Tree structure suggested keywords; objective, dual “sides”, two distinct wings of the personality, and one side may dominate over the other usually the side with more planets and thus weight.

Internal decisions are made by; debate and mutual respect.

The number of planets in the tree will be from three to ten.

Committee dispositor trees relationship to the natal chart’s planetary energies; confusion, lack of focus, and always look to any exalted planet for guidance.

Tree structure suggested keywords; multi-dimensional, varied interests, motivations are flexible, and they cannot see the wood for the trees.

Internal decisions are made by; democracy, and a committee.

Retrograde

Retrograde motion is a phenomenon that occurs due to our vantage point here on Earth when we look at the planets in our Solar system.

When astrologers use the term retrograde, they are referring to apparent retrograde motion.

Definition: To go or to seem to go backwards, to become worse or to decline.

In a chart a retrograde planet has the letters or symbol “Rx” next to their glyph and degrees.

In some charts the planet and degrees are written in red to indicate the planet is retrograde.

A planet that is retrograde is seemingly moving backwards but it is that the Earth is moving forward swifter than the planet in question.

There may be several retrograde planets in each chart or there may be no retrograde planets, it depends on the chart.

Retrograde motion affects all the planets with the exception of the Sun and Moon.

The luminaries are always direct and never retrograde.

When a planet is retrograde it is closer to the Earth than at other times.

As an outer planet draws towards the opposition to the Sun, it becomes well placed for viewing through a telescope, as the full light of the Sun is on the planet.

In a birth chart, the station retrograde, and station direct points are marked with an “S” symbol for stationary.

Typically, planets are considered to be stationary when they are within an orb of 0°10’ of the station.

The orb depends on the aspect set settings in your computer program.

The slower the planet, the longer it lingers in the orb of the station.

A retrograde planet in a natal chart is retracing its steps over the same degree and minutes of the zodiac as it passed before birth.

The planet would have crossed that spot in the zodiac previously (moving direct) and is now retrograding back over a previously passed area of the sign.

It is going back over what has gone before and symbolically this imparts a reduced energy flow to the planet.

Retrograde motion is as if you are jogging down the road quite confidently, and then you realize you dropped your keys, so you stop and walk backwards looking for them, then pick them up and then once again start to jog forwards again.

This shows that retrograde motion is much slower than direct motion.

The state of being retrograde appears to change a planet from its natural urges and direction and cause it to manifest effects similar to its opposite planetary pair attributes such as; Venus and Mars (female/male), and Jupiter and Saturn (expand/contract).

The sign in which the planet retrogrades needs to be considered. A planet may sometimes retrograde over one or two signs.

When a retrograde planet in a birth chart rules a sign, it takes momentum from that sign and makes it harder for that planet to rule the sign in a confident way.

Any planets in a sign ruled by a retrograde planet may show their own urges more so than the sign placement may indicate.

When a retrograde planet in a birth chart rules a house, the affairs of that house may initially be thwarted and held in abeyance until later in life when the retrograde planet stations direct by progression.

This is a joke so do not get caught.

The Sun and Moon are never retrograde! To say someone has a retrograde Sun is an old astrology joke.

Normally a planet which is direct moves along at a regular pace. As planets approach their retrograde period their movement changes in the following way:

In each retrograde period a planet will make its two stations at particular degrees and minutes of the zodiac.

Each retrograde period will cover a different part of the zodiac and will last for a varying amount of time.

The section of the zodiac where the planet will retrograde is known as the shadow period.

The planet enters the pre-shadow or shadow, moving direct, before the actual retrograde period starts.

After the retrograde period at the point when the planet stations direct, the planet remains in the after-shadow or shadow, moving direct, until the planet passes the original station retrograde point again.

The pattern for the inferior planets when retrograde is specific. In the diagram the Sun is in the center. The orbit of either Mercury or Venus is shown in the next circle out. The Earths orbit is shown by the outer circle.

It is only as the inferior planets move into the most westerly and most easterly position that the retrograde cycle starts. Positions 1 and 3 show the station retrograde and the station direct respectively.

During a retrograde cycle there are three conjunctions to the Sun. The first direct pass, the retrograde conjunction, and the final direct conjunction with the Sun.

The time in days for the retrograde period depends on the positions of the inferior planets and the earth and how far each body is from the Sun. This is why each retrograde period may be slightly longer or shorter than the previous one.

Mercury is probably the most well-known retrograde planet where it is even common knowledge outside astrological circles. Mercury is usually retrograde for three weeks and about three times a year or every four months. In any one year Mercury will typically retrograde in the same elementthen the retrograde period shifts into another element.

Mercury rules the nervous system delivering messages to and from the brain.

Venus is retrograde about every eighteen months for about forty days (six weeks). Venus’s retrograde motion begins when she is one sign ahead of the Sun, and direct motion resumes when she is one sign behind the Sun. Venus rules the feminine principle and is a receiver of both material goods and love.

The superior planets have their obits outside that of the Earths.

They are the planets from Mars to Pluto.

The superior planets are retrograde every year except Mars, which is on an almost two year retrograde cycle.

The superior planets begin their retrograde periods when they are near the trine to the Sun.

Whilst the Sun travels the four months (i.e. one third of the chart) towards the next trine, the superior planets are retrograde.

Around the point when the Sun passes the perfect to the trine to a superior planet, the superior planet again begins direct motion.

When a superior planet is in opposition to the Sun it is always retrograde.

Mars is retrograde every twenty-two months for about eleven weeks.

This means it is retrograde about every second year.

Suggests a hesitancy in assertive matters.

The individual is likely to retain anger inside.

Jupiter is retrograde for around four months and direct for around nine months every year.

Saturn is retrograde for about four and a half months each year.

Uranus is retrograde for about five months each year.

Neptune is retrograde about six months every year.

Pluto is retrograde for about six months each year.

The Moon takes one month to orbit the Earth.

The Moon phase cycle starts at New Moon when the Sun and the Moon are conjunct. This happens once every month. At New Moon we can’t see the Moon when it is close to the Sun

The Moon starts to grow in light every day in the waxing part of the cycle. Around day fourteen it reaches the Full Moon when we can see the most light from the Moon. It begins the waning part of the cycle reducing in light back to the New Moon.

The Moon is mainly dark for half of the month and mainly light for half of the month. The darker half is during the last quarter, balsamic, new moon and crescent phases. The light half is the first quarter, gibbous, full moon and disseminating phases. This light/dark difference is symbolic and has much to say about the meaning of the Moon and its phases.

lunar phases are based on the angular relationship between the Sun and the Moon.

If the luminaries are in aspect to each other it must be considered highly in the chart interpretation.

The synodic cycle is around twenty-nine and a half days.

The Moon is in each phase for around three and a half days.

The Moon is in each sign around two and a half days.

The planets also have phases shown by their relationship to the Sun. Particularly the inferior planets Mercury and Venus.

There are eight lunar phases, four in the waxing period and four in the waning period.

Even if the Moon is not in aspect to the Sun it will be in the phase shown below.

Each phase begins at the exact aspect and runs through until the next aspect.

Lunar phases are closely related to the aspects between the Moon and the Sun.

In the waxing half of the Moon’s cycle the four phases are new moon, crescent, first quarter and gibbous. During the waxing half of the month the light of the Moon is growing.

You see life through your own eyes, and not the eyes of others.

You are subjective and struggle to see another person’s point of view.

You enjoy beginning new projects. You are good at starting jobs but not so good at finishing them. You have lots of energy and are independent.

You have the potential to emerge and do good things. At this stage we don’t know.

Concerned with your life and your issues.

You feel compelled to move forward in your life. You can do this when you have a strong foundation underneath from which to launch.

You have an opportunity to grow in your belief in yourself. As your life unfolds and expands you will become more comfortable with the feelings you have about your future path.

You will probably face the future eagerly. In time you probably will develop inner confidence.

You perhaps have the forcefulness of youth and there will likely be much subjective activity throughout your life. You prefer to lay a good base for your future and will take action to make this so.

You are likely to construct your own plans to suit yourself. Your life is likely to be filled with lots of personal growth and experiences with which you can build a firmer foundation on for your personal future.

You are usually strong willed, and some may even say ruthless.

You have controlled energy expenditure. This comes in bursts and much can be done.

You generally have a desire to contribute something of value to society.

You probably understand broad concepts and may have an impulse to clarify and work towards your personal goals or for a cause.

You are the type of individual who can overcome obstacles.

You have a youthful approach to life.

There is effort spend to get better at what you do.

The four phases in the waning half of the Moon’s cycle are full moon, disseminating, last quarter and balsamic.

During the waning half of the lunar cycle the light of the Moon is diminishing.

You can see the other person’s point of view and it is clear to you. You are very self-aware. You can discriminate between truth and lies.

You can see the big picture and use broad strokes. It is all quite clear to you now.

You are supremely confident and have a mature outlook on life. You are realistic and accept things as they are.

You can build fulfilling relationships confidently. You approach life through an adults eyes, there are no illusions.

You are likely to have the desire to transmit what you have learnt through both study and your personal worldly experiences.

Probably you easily disseminate ideas to pass on to others.

It is as though you are on a crusade to share your learning.

Perhaps you wish to spread your wisdom and knowledge with other people as a disciple would.

You can probably use demonstration as a tool to impart your grasp of situations.

It is important for you to let others know what you know and share your beliefs with them.

You wish to make contact.

This indicates that you are fundamentally objective and can pass on your experience and sow seed for the future.

You may spend much time reorienting your outlook.

You may have a crisis in consciousness and be able to change your beliefs into concrete thoughts.

Old values become useless.

You perhaps can be a pioneer in your day, and, with time, posterity will appreciate you.

You may be tiresome and stubborn.

You may feel it has all come to naught and that it was not worth the bother.

A transformation emerges as you process life’s cycles.

You can become released from issues.

You may be called upon to sacrifice something in your life as a martyr perhaps.

You need to surrender to the karmic cycle of life.

You are good with closure of both relationships and situations but will mourn for what has past.

Houses pertain to different areas of life.

They are like the backdrop or stage of a play.

There are twelve houses in every chart.

The houses are numbered from one to twelve anti-clockwise starting from below the ascendant.

Houses can be any width; some are as small as twenty degrees wide and some are as large as forty-five degrees wide.

It all depends on the house system being used and the place of birth for which the chart is set.

All the charts on this website use the Placidus house system.

It is recommended that you stay with one house system (these days most astrologers use the Placidus house system mainly because there have been Placidean Tables of houses available for years, which may not be the ideal, but it is the reality) for the first year of your astrology study or until you can make an educated decision by exploring other house systems to decide which one you may feel resonates better with your own chart.

Other house systems in common use are Equal house, Koch, Morinus, Porphry and Regiomantanus.

House cusps are measured in degrees and minutes and are the dividing line between two houses.

The house flows anti-clockwise and ends at the next house cusp.

A house has a cusp at both sides, but the anti-clockwise cusp is the one that pertains to the house.

A planet is in one house or another it is never in both although it can be very close to a cusp (within one degree).

House cusps are derived from the birth time.

It follows that a correct birth time is required for exact house cusps.

If you do not have a firm birth time, then the houses cannot be used.

Every house has a ruler. The ruler of a house is the planet which rules of the sign found on the house cusp.

For example: The ascendant sign’s planetary ruler is the ruler of the first house.

This is a special case as the ruler of the ascendant is also the chart ruler.

The Sun and the Moon usually rule one house as the rulers of Leo and Cancer.

Mercury and Venus usually rule two houses each Gemini and Virgo for Mercury and Taurus and Libra for Venus.

Mars, Jupiter and Saturn usually each rule one house and co-rule another (traditional) house.

Mars rules Aries and co-rules Scorpio, Jupiter rules Sagittarius and co-rules Pisces and Saturn rules Capricorn and co-rules Aquarius. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto usually co-rule one house each.

Uranus rules Aquarius, Neptune rules Pisces and Pluto rules Scorpio.

Chiron does not rule a house because it does not rule any sign.

If a house is thin (less than thirty degrees wide) then one planet may rule two consecutive houses as the same sign may be on both adjacent house cusps.

A house ruler (by its sign, house and aspects) imparts its energies onto the affairs of the house.

If a house is very wide (more than thirty degrees) there is the possibility that one sign is on the house cusp, the next sign is fully within the house and the third sign is on the following house cusp.

The middle sign does not have a house cusp.

This is known as an intercepted sign.

If the intercepted sign is Cancer or Leo it means that one of the luminaries does not have a house to rule.

Intercepted signs are always in pairs and are found opposite each other.

The planetary ruler of the intercepted sign is a moot point for that house’s interpretation.

It is as though it has no voice in the chart.

That planet does not have as much weight.

There are three types of house; angular, succedent and cadent.

The angular houses are the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses.

They are found anti-clockwise from each angle. (Ascendant 1st, IC 4th, descendant 7th and MC 10th).

Planets in angular houses are dynamic, front and center and are present.

The succedent houses are the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 11th houses.

They fall behind the angular houses.

They are also known as support houses as they support the angular house next to them, usually financially.

Planets in succedent houses are paused, on hold and are pending.

The cadent houses are the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th houses.

They fall behind the succedent houses.

Planets in cadent houses are passive, retiring and are mute.

We as astrologers would certainly be wise to adopt inference about our readings especially in regard to our clients.

Here we will discuss some ethical predicaments in which an astrologer, or student, can easily find themselves.

The privacy laws are always in effect and you need to be aware that they affect your work as an astrologer.

You cannot discuss the chart details of one person with another – even another astrologer.

If you want to use an individual’s chart details and personal storyline you may not do so without first obtaining their written permission and clearly stating whether the data will be used for research, teaching or for publication.

The public do not know the breadth and depth that an astrological interpretation can entail and how chart analysis will reveal features and motivations in someone’s life.

As an astrologer, you need to tread carefully here.

A new mother comes to you and wants her baby’s chart read.

What do you do?

Obviously, parents make decisions for their offspring all the time.

Perhaps one way of dealing with interpreting children’s charts is to be found in the transits.

Prior to the first Jupiter return (age 12) the parents may request a child’s chart to be read and after the Jupiter return the child should agree to you doing the reading.

A woman arrives at your office clutching the birth details of Mr. “Fifth Boyfriend this Year” and demands, “Is he the One?”

What do you do?

This really is an ethical situation where you are being asked to interpret charts for those who are not there and are unaware that it is happening.

There may be justification in some instances, but you will have to decide where to draw the line.

We often select famous people who are dead for chart interpretation practice such as Alexander Graham Bell, Albert Einstein or Michael Jackson.

If a private person has died and you wish to work with their chart details this usually is acceptable unless the death has occurred recently, and the family is still working through their grief.

You have to decide what type of astrologer you are and again you have to make the call.

You have just left an energetic astrology meeting and are standing at the door casually chatting about the weather and someone thrusts their chart into your face and says breathlessly, “I have no planets in the seventh house, I was told it means I won’t get married, what do you think?”

Well, what do you think?

For a start you can’t stand there discussing her chart in front of other people.

What gets me about this scene is that during some point in her past someone told her the grim news and she has been carrying the baggage with her up until now.

There is no point to respond with another hit-and-run consultation as you stand at the door.

The way to handle this situation is to explain that many factors influence marriage and invite her to make an appointment to meet with you at a more appropriate time where you can gently go over how it all works and put her straight on this matter.

Remember, as an astrologer (and as an astrology student) you are deemed the authority in all matters of an astrological nature.

From the point of view of your clients and the general public you are the wizard and as such you need to be careful to do no harm.

Look at your chart to see what your Saturn (respect and boundaries), Uranus (astrology) and Pluto (secrets) reveal about you and your approach to ethics and privacy.

Give some thought to the issues discussed above and it could help you decide where you stand.

Every astrologer has their own opinion on these introductory matters. It would do you well to think about what your views are before attempting a chart interpretation.

The Asteroids

The asteroids orbit the Sun and they are solar system bodies.

They are smaller than the planets and their paths lie mainly between Mars and Jupiter.

They are found in what is called “The Asteroid belt” which is a space between the personal planets (Sun to Mars) and the social planets (Jupiter and Saturn).

Bode’s Law states that there will be a planet found in the space between Mars and Jupiter.

The earlier astronomers looked for it, and that is how Ceres the biggest and was the first asteroid to be discovered.

The four largest asteroids are Ceres, Juno, Vesta and Pallas Athene.

The big four asteroids were discovered first because they are so large, and they could be seen with the early telescopes.

These are the main asteroids and they are the ones you will learn about here.

In 2006 Ceres, was reclassified as a dwarf planet (just like Pluto) due to its mass.

This special status conferred onto Ceres has brought Ceres into many astrologer’s main practices and you will often see it in printed charts.

The main asteroid belt lies between Mars and Jupiter and contains millions of varying sized objects some as large as the planet Pluto and some the size of a potato.

There are three areas where asteroids are found.

The main belt is where most of the astrology asteroids lie, and the Greeks and the Trojans which are groups that lie equally before and after on Jupiter’s orbit path at a sextile.

All the asteroids are named after Goddesses.

They are mostly female.

Female goddess asteroids balance out the male dominated planets such as Sun, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron in a chart.

The four main asteroids are all named after the females in a family.

In the myth of Jupiter, we see the asteroid names.

Ceres was Jupiters mother, Vesta was his sister, Juno was Jupiters wife and Pallas Athene was his daughter.

There are hundreds of asteroids and many of them have names which can be used in chart interpretation.

You may discover that there is an asteroid with your name and if so, it may have a special meaning for you in your chart.

The name an asteroid has reflects its meaning.

Many asteroids were named after Greek and Roman myths and the asteroid with the corresponding name has the meaning of the myth.

Generally, the asteroids take around four to five years to orbit the Sun.

Their paths lie between Mars, which has a two year orbit, and Jupiter, with its twelve year orbit, although some asteroid orbits are longer.

Ceres was the first asteroid to be discovered by Giuseppe Piazzi on January 1, 1801 in Palermo, Sicily.

Uterus and upper intestine.

Discovered in 1802.

The kidneys and the immune system.

Juno is the third asteroid and was discovered in 1804.

Female genitals.

Vesta was the fourth asteroid to be discovered in 1807. Vesta is the second largest asteroid after Ceres.

Modes

There are three modes (modality, quadruplicities or qualities). The three modes are cardinal, fixed, and mutable. Each sign has one mode. Every mode has four signs associated with it.

The four Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

The four Fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.


The four Mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.

The modes are balanced when they are spread evenly (as much as you can evenly spread seven into three).

For example, three planets in cardinal signs, two in fixed signs and two in mutable signs are considered in balance.

A mode is considered strong when there are at least two more planets in the mode than the next best mode.

For example, four planets in cardinal signs, two in air and one in a mutable sign makes the cardinal mode strong.

A mode is weak when there are no planets in the mode.

For example, three planets in cardinal, four in fixed and no planets in a mutable sign makes the mutable mode weak.

People with many planets in the cardinal signs usually start things.

They are self-motivated, have goals and are the leaders of the zodiac.

Cardinal signs initiate change.

A lack of planets in the cardinal signs suggests the individual is not one for starting things or getting things going.

For a weak cardinal person procrastination may be an issue.

Those with many planets in fixed signs stick to things and can complete things.

They are tenacious, reliable, stubborn and steadfast. They are resistant to change to the extent that they may have to overcome inertia.

A shortage of fixed planets in the signs indicates the person has a certain wavering in life.

Strong mutable signs are flexible, adaptable and inclusive.

They are accommodating, adjustable, amenable to change and they can move things along.

When there are no planets in a mutable sign it imparts some rigidity to the individual.

Astrological Elements Elements

There are four elements or triplicities in astrology; fire, earth, air, and water.

Each sign is attributed to one element.

Every element has three signs.

The elements show how we experience and process the world around us.


The three Fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

The fire signs are masculine.

The three Earth signs are Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.

All earth signs are feminine.

The three Air signs are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.

Every air sign is masculine.

The three Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.

Each water sign is feminine.

Only count the seven visible planets which are, the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

Your total will add up to seven.

The reason for this limited count is that you want a quality count and not a quantity count.

The visible planets have been in human consciousness since man (and woman) evolved.

We are fully aware of them.

Whereas the other planets are relatively new.

The elements are considered to be in balance when the planets are equally spread amongst them.

For example, one planet in a fire sign, two in earth signs, two in air signs and two in water signs shows the elements are in balance.

An element with two planets more than the next best element is considered strong.

For example, four planets in fire signs and two in earth signs, zero in an air sign and one in a water sign will give a fire emphasis as there are two planets more in fire than in earth.

Strong fire people will make things happen by creating a spark.

They use their intuition to make decisions.

Generally, fire people are optimistic, enthusiastic, inspirational, faithful, stimulating and positive.

A lack of planets in fire indicates that inspiration and visualization may be in short supply.

Strong earthy folk will bring things into reality and give them form.

They use sensations (touch, smell and taste) to make decisions. They are practical, realistic, useful, and can be slow moving.

A shortage of planets in earth suggests the person is not well-grounded and may have an airy-fairy approach to life.

Strong air individuals determine what things are, label them and then they inform others.

They use their thoughts and minds to process information, knowledge, ideas and concepts to make decisions.

They are often intellectual, good communicators, thoughtful, objective, positive, theoretical and they can deal in abstractions.

No planets in the element of air hints at an inability to think things through and to find a conclusion.

Strong water souls experience feelings about things and they may give them care.

They use their feelings to accept or reject things depending on their likes and dislikes to make decisions.

Generally, they are sensitive, aware of atmospheres, introverted, impressionable and flexible.

When the water element is without planets, it implies an inability to understand emotions and what things and situations upset themselves and others.

Jupiter entered the sign of Pisces on May 13th, 2021 for the first time in twelve years.

Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system and is traditionally known as The Greater Benefic which means it is a really good planet.

Jupiter takes twelve years to do a full orbit of the Sun and it spends about one year in each sign.

This loosely relates to the Chinese Astrology of twelve years of the Rat, Tiger and Monkey etc.

Jupiter will be in Pisces until 2022.

Jupiter is the planetary ruler of Sagittarius and it is also the traditional ruler of Pisces before Neptune was discovered.

This means that in traditional and Hellenistic astrology Jupiter will be in rulership in Pisces.

During the year that Jupiter will be in Pisces, Saturn will still be in Aquarius.

This means that both of the large planets will be strong in their own signs.

Over the next year, I anticipate that if you are an earth sign (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) or a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces), Jupiter will be more prominent for you.

If you are a fire sign (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) or an Air sign (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius) sign then Saturn will probably be more influential for you.

In 2021 there are two eclipse seasons with a total of four eclipses, two lunar eclipses and two solar eclipses.

In the first eclipse season of 2021 there is a lunar eclipse on May 26th and a solar eclipse June 10th.

These charts are set for Zero Aries house system, Vancouver and the Pacific time zone.

The eclipses may actually occur the day before or after in your part of the world.

In the second eclipse season of 2021 there is a lunar eclipse on November 19th and a solar eclipse on December 4th.

The other day I was having a patio lunch with my daughter.

She spoke about how sometimes she feels she relates better with Gen Z than the Millennials.

She was born around the division between the two generations and the Millennials is where she felt she was.

This got me thinking, and I have some answers for those born on the cusp of the Millennial / Gen Z generations with the help of astrology, of course.

Categorizing people into generations is a way to analyze trends in society.

One generation group will do things this way and the next cohort will do things another.

The specific dates when one generation ends, and another begins are blurred.

Astrology has a way to categorize each generation by the outer planets.

Heck, the outer planets are even called the Generational Planets.

The seven visible planets are the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

They are called the visible planets because you can go outside and look (GOAL) up at the night sky and see all of the seven planets.

The three generational planets are Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

The generational planets are outside the usual visible planets realm from the Sun to Saturn.

Uranus is the modern ruler of the sign of Aquarius the Water Bearer.

The traditional ruler for Aquarius is Saturn.

Uranus takes seven years to pass through one sign.

Neptune is the modern ruler of the sign of Pisces the Fish.

The traditional planetary ruler for Neptune is Jupiter.

Neptune takes around fourteen years to transit a signa.

Pluto is the modern ruler of the sign of the scorpion, Scorpio.

The traditional ruler of Scorpio is Mars.

Pluto takes, on average, 25 years to transit each sign, but this can be wildly different for Pluto as its orbit is more elliptical than the other planets.

It is much faster through Scorpio (20 years)  than Taurus (35 years.)

The named generations list, as referenced in Wikipedia, shows the current thinking for each generations years.

Millennials are those who achieved adulthood around the year 2000. They are widely accepted as having been born loosely between 1981 and 1996.

Generation Z are those born after the Millennials. They are widely accepted as having been born loosely between 1997 to 2011.

Astrology has a way to differentiate between the generations.

We are specifically looking at the border between the Millennials and Generation Z people.

This time frame could also be called a cusp between the generations.

Lets take a closer look at where the outer planets were between these two generations.

The years we are zooming in on are 1995 and 1996.

We are going to look at where the outer planets were and which zodiac signs they were in at this cusp moment.

Note: If your birthday is on any date in the table above, you will have to cast your birth chart to find out exactly which signs your outer planets were in when you were born.

You are a definitely Millennial if you have Uranus in Sagittarius, or Capricorn and you have Pluto in Scorpio.

Millennials may have Pluto in either Libra or Scorpio.

Millennials may have Neptune in either Sagittarius or Capricorn.

Millennials may have Uranus in either Sagittarius or Capricorn.

You are definitely Gen Z if you have Uranus in Aquarius or Pisces, and you have Pluto in Sagittarius

Gen Z may have Pluto in either Sagittarius or Capricorn.

Gen Z may have Neptune in either Capricorn or Aquarius.

Gen Z may have Uranus in either Aquarius or Pisces.

The Moon takes one month to orbit the Earth.

The Moon phase cycle, known as the synodic cycle, starts at New Moon when the Sun and the Moon are conjunct.

This happens once every month.

At New Moon, we cannot see the Moon as it is close to the Sun

The Moon starts to grow in light every day in the waxing part of the cycle.

Around day fourteen it reaches the Full Moon when we can see the most light from the Moon.

It begins the waning part of the cycle reducing in light back to the New Moon.

The Moon is mainly dark for half of the month and mainly light for half of the month.

The darker half is during the last quarter, balsamic, new moon and crescent phases.

The light half is the first quarter, gibbous, full moon and disseminating phases.

This light/dark difference is symbolic and has much to say about the meaning of the Moon and its phases.

The lunar phases are based on the angular relationship between the Sun and the Moon.

If the luminaries are in aspect to each other, the aspect between them must be considered highly in the chart interpretation.

The synodic cycle is around twenty-nine and a half days.

The Moon is in each phase for around three and a half days.

The Moon is in each sign around two and a half days.

The planets also have phases shown by their relationship to the Sun and particularly the inferior planets Mercury and Venus.

There are eight lunar phases, four in the waxing period and four in the waning period.

Even if the Moon is not in aspect to the Sun, it will be in the phase shown below.

Each phase begins at the exact aspect and runs through until the next aspect.

Lunar phases are closely related to the aspects between the Moon and the Sun.

The cycle of the Moon can be symbolically correlated to a plant’s life-cycle.

It can also be related to the yearly solar cycle and the seasons.

This correlation shows the driving essence of each lunar phase which is expressed through individual charts.

The seed is in the dark, underground and germinates.

It is a delicate time, and it can be touch and go if the seed and plant will survive.

It is the beginning. Winter Solstice December 21st.

The fresh sprout breaks through the soil into the light and the first leaves form.

During this time the little seedling grows and strengthens. Imbolc February 1st.

Stronger roots appear to stabilize the plant.

Fast growth happens as the plant strives to reach full potential.

Bigger leaves form and branches thicken.

The Vernal Equinox around March 21st and the start of spring in the northern hemisphere.

The plant starts to bloom as buds and blossom form showing potential.

The plant is now established, and you can see what it will become.

This time relates to Beltane around May 1st when the Sun is at 15 degrees Taurus.

The flower becomes the fruit. The plant puts forth its full sweet bounty.

The fruits of its efforts are available for all to see.

The fruit ripens.

The summer solstice is around June 21st and signals the start of summer in the northern hemisphere.

This is the harvest phase where fruits are harvested.

It is the culmination of the plant as it gives up its bounty to others.

This relates to Lamas around August 1st and when the Sun is at 15 degrees Leo.

Now the planet begins to decompose and withers.

The leaves fall, and the remaining flowers make seed pods for next year.

Seed pods explode as the plant casts forth its life potential for the next cycle.

This is known as the fall or autumn equinox around September 21st and signals the start of Autumn in the northern hemisphere.

Seeds become buried in the dark and bulbs stay hidden underground.

The plants rest.

Nothing is happening as the ground lies fallow.

The wait.

This relates to Halloween on October 31st and when the Sun is at fifteen degrees Scorpio.

In the waxing half of the Moon’s cycle, the four phases are new moon, crescent, first quarter and gibbous.

During the waxing half of the month, the light of the Moon is growing.

You see life through your own eyes, and not the eyes of others.

You are subjective and struggle to see another person’s point of view.

You enjoy beginning new projects. You are good at starting jobs but not so good at finishing them. You have lots of energy and are independent.

You have the potential to emerge and do good things. At this stage, we don’t know.

Concerned with your life and your issues.

You feel compelled to move forward in your life.

You can do this when you have a strong foundation underneath from which to launch.

You have an opportunity to grow in your belief in yourself.

As your life unfolds and expands, you will become more comfortable with the feelings you have about your future path.

You will probably face the future eagerly.

In time you possibly will develop inner confidence.

You perhaps have the forcefulness of youth, and there will likely be much subjective activity throughout your life.

You prefer to lay a good base for your future and will take action to make this so.

You are likely to construct your own plans to suit yourself.

Your life is expected to be filled with lots of personal growth and experiences with which you can build a firmer foundation for your personal future.

You are usually strong-willed, and some may even say ruthless.

You have controlled energy expenditure which comes in bursts, and much can be done.

The four phases in the waning half of the Moon’s cycle are full moon, disseminating, last quarter and balsamic.

During the waning half of the lunar cycle, the light of the Moon is diminishing.

You can see the other person’s point of view, and it is clear to you. You are very self-aware. You can discriminate between truth and lies.

You can see the big picture and use broad strokes. It is all quite clear to you now.

You are supremely confident and have a mature outlook on life. You are realistic and accept things as they are.

You can build fulfilling relationships confidently. You approach life through an adults eyes, and there are no illusions.

You are likely to have the desire to transmit what you have learned through both study and your personal, worldly experiences.

Probably you quickly disseminate ideas to pass on to others.

It is as though you are on a crusade to share your learning.

Perhaps you wish to spread your wisdom and knowledge with other people as a disciple would. You can probably use demonstration as a tool to impart your grasp of situations.

It is vital for you to let others know what you know and share your beliefs with them. You wish to make contact.

This indicates that you are fundamentally objective and can pass on your experience and sow seed for the future.

Each month there are different themes brought forward as the celestial bodies dance around the Sun. These movements create a never-ending rhythm of cosmic energy shifts that I have interpreted for you.

Note, I use Universal Time for all our horoscope work so as to be inclusive and to cater for everyone around the globe.

As the planets move through the zodiac, they change signs and adjust their direction. Each planet has a couple of particular signs that they really love to be in and with which they resonate well.

You know yourself you may prefer to visit Aunt Agathas place, because you feel welcome there.

The planets also have a few signs that are difficult for them to be their best.

Maybe you don’t like vising Aunt Alexs place because you feel stifled or restricted in some way. This is how the planets are as well.

These shifts of planetary energy are what we astrologers look at.

We also take a closer look at the Moon and pay close attention to the New Moon and Full Moon each month.

If there are any eclipses they will be highlighted as well.

On June 2nd, Venus enters Cancer.

As Venus enters the sign of the Crab, many peoples financial situations can be helped by a more frugal approach. Romance will be closer to home, so look to people you live with and those who visit your place for amorous encounters.

On June 11th, Mars enters fiery Leo.

Fiery Mars enters sizzling Leo to get some bursts of action in your life. Expect to have a few things on the go and eventually what is meaningful, and worthy will rise above it all. Keep all of your options alive as long as you can and avoid closing doors on people and situations this month.

On June 14th, Saturn, at 13° Aquarius, makes another square to Uranus to 13° Taurus.

This will affect anyone with planets or points at 13° of the fixed signs which are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.

This powerful square suggests that responsibility and freedom are challenged. If you have allowed your life to become stagnant this will be the time when changes will occur.

This is the moment to get out of a rut to accept new and exciting situations into your life.

On June 10th, there is an annular solar eclipse at 19°47 Gemini at the North Node.

With a totality of 3 minutes 51.2 seconds which astrologically converts to an influence for 3 months and 25 days, or up until around October 4th, 2021.

This solar eclipse brings themes of future focus and communication.

What you scheme, plot and plan or hear on this day will set the stage for the whole next month.

This is the perfect day for an interview or to get your credentials under the nose of someone who matters.

Get ready before hand and plan to read a new book that will improve yourself through some positive and uplifting stories which you can use as a template for your life.

Use the eclipse day (June 10th) to state meaningful personal affirmations around your contacts, ongoing conversations and all buying or selling where you have to sign on the dotted line.

You can prepare your affirmations beforehand.

For example:

You can think of some more affirmations to put out at the solar eclipse that relate to Gemini and will be in effect until the next New Moon on July 10th.

If you know in which house in your birth chart this solar eclipse falls in your chart, then focus your affirmations on that area of your life.

This year Jupiter is retrograde from June 20th, at 02º11 Pisces, through to October 18th, at 22º19 Aquarius.

Jupiter will pass back into Aquarius for a brief time as well like youve left school or work, but now you are going back to unpack your locker and hand in the keys.

This particular Jupiter station retrograde will affect people with birthdays on 20th, 21st and 22nd of February intensely.

The Jupiter station direct will powerfully affect anyone born on 10th, 11th and 12th of February.

It will also influence anyone born between the 10th to 22nd of February, or people with planets or points between 22º Aquarius to 2º Pisces.

Jupiter will form three direct conjunctions by transit to these planets or points.

In general Jupiter retrograde brings themes of rehearsal, retracing and reduction.

If this Jupiter retrograde period makes contact to your chart through a conjunction, there will be restricted growth for a while.

It may dawn on you that you need more education in your field.

This is a good time to address your intellectual improvement.

Use these months (June to October) well as they are an excellent period to review and research your knowledge base to select future courses for college or other adult education opportunities.

On June 21st the Sun enters Cancer.

This is the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere and the winter solstice in the southern.

It is a turning point in the year and themes of circling the wagons and preservation of family will be strong.

There is an air of quiet confidence now.

Mercury ends its retrograde cycle on June 22nd at 16° 09 Gemini.

The Mercury station direct will powerfully affect anyone born on the 6th, 7th or 8th of June.

Now there is a release and deals, purchases, paperwork, and any documents that you have to sign in particular, can go more smoothly.

On Thursday June 24th, there is a Full Moon at 3°28 Capricorn.

The June Full Moon will specifically affect you if your birthday is on 23rd, 24th or 25th December.

This Full Moon occurs at the Moons north node which suggests themes of looking towards your future with anticipation.

You may not actually step forward, but you can see the possibilities.

This year Neptune is retrograde from June 25th, at 23º12 Pisces, to December 1st at 20º24 Pisces.

This particular Neptune station retrograde will affect people with birthdays on 13th, 14th and 15th March intensely.

The later Neptune station direct will powerfully affect anyone born on 10th, 11th or 12th of March.

It will also influence anyone born between 10th to 15th of March, or people with planets or points between 20º to 23º Pisces who will experience a three-contact conjunction to their natal planet or point from Neptune.

In general, Neptune retrogrades brings themes of, rehearsal, reflection and refresh.

Neptune is very strong in its own sign of Pisces.

Neptunes retrograde cycle in the sign of the Fish can be a time for more realism and a release from limiting beliefs that may have held you back.

You are likely to see many things clearly now.

This period will encourage your artistic, musical and spiritual side to become more apparent which is especially the case if transiting Neptune conjoins a planet or point in your natal chart.

On June 2nd, Venus enters Leo.

Now there is a shift of energy as you look for creative solutions around your love affairs.

If you are single, you will be more open to a romantic encounter although it may not get heavy immediately as this is the time to play it cool.

If you are in a meaningful relationship, this period will bring more heart to the affair and now engage yourself whole heartedly with your fun-loving partner.
