From 5 December 2020, it will be mandatory for particular businesses and venues to collect contact details of customers and patrons for COVID-19 contract tracing, if required. Established under the State Records Act 2000, the State Records Office is the Western Australian public records authority with responsibility for managing, preserving and providing access to the State's records of information. The State Records Office operates as a Government agency within the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and reports to the State Records Commission.By supporting our public sector colleagues in WA we seek to achieve a secure and discoverable record of government that is valued by our community and used to create a legacy for current and future generations of Western Australians. In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1992, the State Records Office has prepared a FOI Information Statement. This contains details of the types of information held by the State Records Office and the State Records Commission and how it can be accessed.The Government of Western Australia acknowledges the traditional custodians throughout Western Australia and their continuing connection to the land, waters and community.
