We convene science teams to work on broad issues of national and international relevance, such as water resources management, land management, agriculture, species protection, among other areas of study. By supporting interdisciplinary science teams and researchers with diverse skills, data, and perspectives, SESYNC seeks to lead in-depth research and scholarship that will inform decisions and accelerate scientific discovery. In a recent interview on CNN International, SESYNC postdoc Merle Eisenberg lent his pandemic expertise to a discussion about the coronavirus. In the segment, which aired March 5, 2020, CNN journalist John Vause asked Eisenberg to address certain parallels being drawn between the current spread of the coronavirus and that of the 14th century plague.
