Subsequent sessions (if necessary) may be 2 hours until appropriate to step down to 1 hour.For individualsThe initial session should be at least 90 minutes (2 hours preferred).For Telehealth SessionsIn preparation for an online session, please make certain of the following:You are both in front of the camera (and in one location).Your internet connection is very good.Your faces are well lit.You are both audible.For out-of-towners (out of state or country)Therapy intensives can be extremely helpful under certain circumstances, but intensives should not be a replacement for ongoing therapy. The shorter and more intense the length of treatment, the more it should be regarded as consultation/counseling and not therapy. Having said that, Stan usually recommends 3-4 consecutive days in his office with about 3-4 hours per day. Stan prefers that couples have a couple therapist available in their home town for continued support and consultation. If the visiting couple is struggling with the following concerns, a phone consult is required prior to scheduling an appointment:Major issues with drugs/alcoholPost-traumatic stress syndrome (untreated)History of physical violenceMajor psychiatric illness (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar)Active suicidality or any other matter of danger to self/danger to othersFor clinicians (pro-consult)Stan is available for consultations with clinicians.Make an appointmentIf you decide you would like to see Stan, you can schedule an appointment.When you get to the online scheduler, you will be asked to create a user name and password.
