We would like to thank our graduating seniors for successfully leading the student section over the last few years, as well as dedicating their time, passion, and energy to Penn State Basketball.Former President Andrew Flatley will graduate with a major in Advertising and minors in Business and History. He will pursue a career in the field of marketing and sales. Former Vice President Mercedes Fraistat will graduate in August with Broadcast Journalism and Media Studies degrees and plans to pursue a career as a social media manager in the sports field.Former Executive Officer Matthew O’Connor will graduate in May with an Accounting degree and plans to work as an accounting auditor and financial planner. Former Executive Officer Tyler Steiner will graduate in December with a major in Security and Risk Analysis, and minor in Information Sciences and Technology. Upon graduation, Tyler plans to pursue a career in the field of business and financial technology. Legion of Blue would also like to thank former Executive Officer Joseph Nadonley (Senior-Geography) for his dedication to the Climb over the last three seasons.Vincent Nardella (Senior-Graphic Design) was elected to serve as the President for the 2019-2020 season. Nardella will serve his third year on Legion of Blue’s Executive Board. Nardella previously served as Executive Officer for the 2017-2018 season and Secretary for the 2018-2019 season.Our new Vice President will be Liz Cooney (Senior-Labor Employment Relations and Public Relations). This will be Cooney’s fourth year serving on Legion of Blue’s Executive Board. Cooney served as an Executive Officer for the 2016-2017 season, and Treasurer from 2017-2019.Serving as Secretary will be Alexis Soo (Junior-Kinesiology). Joining our Executive Board as an Executive Officer for the 2018-2019 season, this will be Soo’s second season on the Legion of Blue Executive Board.Serving as Treasurer will be Madisen Patanella (Junior-Supply Chain). This will also be Patanella’s second season on the Executive Board after serving as an Executive Officer for the 2018-2019 season.Returning to the Executive Board as Executive Officers will be Thomas Carvo (Senior-Meteorology) and Kyle Yoder (Junior-Mechanical Engineering).We are also delighted to welcome six new Executive Officers to our team for the 2019-2020 term: Dominico Vano (Senior-Aerospace Engineering), Ryan Hodinko (Sophomore-Communications), Jonathan Flatley (Sophomore-Security and Risk Analysis), Morgan Raup (Sophomore-Kinesiology), and Garren Wolfgang (Sophomore, Marketing).After selling the most student season tickets in the Coach Chambers era last year, we will continue our mission of creating a fun and energetic atmosphere inside the Bryce Jordan Center while supporting both Penn State Basketball and Lady Lion Basketball moving forward into the 2019-2020 season.#ClimbAsOneTweetLegion of Blue is excited to announce the prizes for this year’s social media slam dunk contest. The third-place winner will receive a Penn State Men’s Basketball t-shirt, and the second-place winner will receive a $25 gift card to Chipotle. This year’s champion will have their basketball student season tickets purchased by Legion of Blue. That’s right, you’ll be able to watch the entire 2018-2019 season for FREE!Legion of Blue will also extend the deadline for this year’s edition of #LoBJulyJam to August 28th, at 8pm. Due to the contest entering the month of August, the name of the campaign will change from #LoBJulyJam to #LoBSummerSlam.To enter, contestants can film their best slam dunk on any hoop at any location. After filming their best slam, students can simply upload to any platform of social media, use the hashtag #LoBSummerSlam, and tag Legion of Blue. Creativity of all types is encouraged and will be rewarded.Contestants who previously entered and used #LoBJulyJam will still be considered for any of the top three prizes. Winners will be chosen and contacted the first week of the Penn State fall semester. Keep climbing and start dunking!TweetLegion of Blue will host our first general body meeting of the 2018-2019 season on August 30th, taking place in 108 Forum Building at 7pm. This event, the second annual #FillTheForum, will be the first way for students across campus to get involved with Penn State Basketball and Legion of Blue for the upcoming season.Last year s edition of #FillTheForum saw over 350 students pack Forum Building in one of the most successful events in Legion of Blue history, and this year is looking to be even bigger and better than ever.Similar to last year’s #FillTheForum, this year s event will have free food (while supplies last), t-shirt tosses, TV giveaways, free Justin Timberlake tickets, and special guest appearances. Students will also have the opportunity to learn the in-game chants in preparation of the season start in November.
