We are pleased to announce that BMC Ecology and BMC Evolutionary Biology will be merged into one journal and re-launched as BMC Ecology and Evolution on January 1st 2021. As a result BMC Ecology is no longer open to new submissions and will not publish any new articles after December 31st 2020. The scope of BMC Evolutionary Biology has now been expanded to include ecology submissions and authors in this field are encouraged to submit to this journal.
