As a grassroots movement we are

impacting communities and changing lives

Whether it’s a young girl who no longer has to walk miles to collect water, a mother who can provide for her children thanks to business training, or a school that can now grow nutritious food for their students–our impact is far reaching–community focused–and always sustainable. But we aren’t just about granting money toward issues of poverty, we also want to inspire people to care about justice, and to take action through simple generosity. Because together, we truly believe we can alleviate extreme global poverty in our lifetime.

PEOPLE IMPACTED

Meet Juliet
"When my children are sick, she can help," says Juliet. We worked with our partners to train mothers in Uganda to become Community Health Providers (CHPs), so that they could diagnose and treat the majority of preventable illnesses that mothers and children experience in their neighborhoods. Juliet is one of the moms who now has access to life-saving health care for herself and her two daughters thanks to her neighborhood.
Education Makes for a Better Environment
Students at Centro Educativo Técnico Chixot in Guatemala must turn in 4 trash bottles a month to help them see the importance of recycling. They even get to place some of their trash bottles into the recycled tire walls of the school. Students and the community are starting to look at trash as an opportunity! Together with our partners, we are not only providing students with education by building classrooms and providing school supplies, we are teaching the importance of environmental stewardship.
Godfrey and Rita
Meet Godfrey & his daughter Rita. Godfrey is a mechanic who we helped empower to become a well mechanic in Uganda. It's estimated that 1 in 3 wells in Africa are broken, so Godfrey's job as a mechanic ensures that his community will have a consistent, reliable source of clean water. And a consistent income for Godfrey means he can provide for his daughter Rita and the rest of their family.
Health and Hygiene for Children
Clean hands make happy healthy kids! Together with our partners we enabled a project in Guatemala to promote improved hygiene practices for 750 children and their families. The project taught children proper sanitation practices in their schools, including hand washing. Thanks to this program, children are now asking for soap at home because they have learned about germs, and how using soap can prevent them from getting sick.
Hamazia's Story
Hamazia was forced to flee her home country of Ethiopia due to persecution. Like many other solo female refugees, her vulnerability was preyed on, and she was sexually assaulted before reaching Kenya. Hamazia finally made it to Nairobi, but had few resources or connections, and now she had a newborn baby to take care of. We worked with local partners to empower girls like Hamazia, by providing them with counseling, case management, and continuing education.
