ABOUT ME
After a 6 year hiatus participating in the annual Roslindale Open Studios event, I am back this year displaying and selling my photographs. The event will be October 15 and 16, 2022 from 11am to 5pm and I will be at the Emerald Society, 10 Birch Street, in the heart of Roslindale Village. I will have many Roslindale pictures from the past framed and unframed and priced to sell. Come by my booth, have a look and say hello.
Please visit bobdward.myportfolio.com to preview my Roslindale Open Studios framed, unframed prints and holiday cards for sale.
My name is Bob D Ward and I am a semi-retired graphic designer/printproduction artist with many years in the business ofgetting things designed and printed — from conception to delivery. My last full time employer, was Businessolver (almost 3 years) on the Studio B team. Currently, I have a contract for part-time freelance work with Businessolver till the end of November 2022. Before being hired at Businessolver I worked primarily at Mercer for 8 years. Businessolver and Mercer are both benefits administrators.
Before Mercer, I was employed at Hill Holliday (til 12/08) — I was hired to work initially as a dedicated Mac Artist on the John Hancock retail account but later moved into the "studio" preparing print files for Hill Holliday's client base.

Embracing the latest prepress technology, I am proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and use Acrobat, MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint routinely. I have a home studio and subscribed to the Adobe Creative Cloud to have access to the Adobe Creative Suite. Being skilled as a mock-up artist (does anyone do this anymore?), My experience includes print design as well as web design and the creation of assets. In a days workload, I am able to design or rebuild print files, resize ads to publication specifications and produce layout solutions for print and web.

Today, in my semi-retirement, I am back exploring photography. Things have sure changed since I first studied shooting, developing and printing black and white photography back in 1978. Studying for my BFA, Photography was my minor study (Graphic Design was my major), back at the Swain School of Design in New Bedford, MA. Unfortunately the college no longer exist and the art program is now part of the UMass Dartmouth's art curriculum.
These days, my iPhone has taken the place of my Nikon D-50 digital camera. After several fails with the Nikon D-50 and utilizing the compactness, availability, excellent camera lens and the ability to quickly take and download image files to my MacBook pro, I have gravitated to the iphone with its excellent camera features. Because the iPhone fits in your pocket, one can take a picture at a moments notice or impulse. And with the advent of social media it has become customary to share images online for quick acknowledgment or delivery.

"By the way, our prepress operators told me that your file was absolutely great...they wish all of our clients would send in files as perfect as yours!"
— Don Woo at Park Press, So. Holland, IL
"Bob, What can I say— you are the best! Thanks for ALL
you have done for Roslindale Open Studios. The brochure, postcards, advertisementsand posters that you worked your graphic design magic on helped to make the event a huge success. I really appreciate all your dedication. It was a pleasure working with you."
— Janice Williams, Roslindale Open Studios Coordinator
“As a volunteer on the Marketing Committee that I chair for Roslindale Village Main Street, Bob is an excellent resource for our social media, design, print and video needs. He is passionate about promoting small businesses and demonstrates a strong understanding of the challenges that small business owners face in this economic climate. Bob has a prolific talent for conceptualizing and then producing short videos to raise awareness of Roslindale's events and neighborhood character. We have also relied on him for a long time to develop our printed promotions, as he is very skilled in design and print production. He always takes initiative, always delivers a high quality product, and is always willing to do more. Bob is a stellar, invaluable member of our team - I wish we had 10 more just like him!”

The winter of 2021 in the ArnoldArboretum
Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 6:00PMWinter got a head start this season with our first snow in October (2020), with leaves still on the trees, Boston received 3-4 inches of snow. Here are a couple pictures from the Arnold Arboretum in Roslindale capturing the fall foliage against the snowy landscape.
A walk in the first week of February through the Arnold Arboretum after a fresh blanket of snow is like being in a winter wonderland, but still in the city! Such a beauful place so close to home.
Another stroll into the Arnold Arboretum entering through the Mendum Gate in Roslindale.

A trip to new york city — Christmas2019
Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 8:39PMA recent trip to New York City displayed a whole new big apple skyline for me with the addition of the mid town tall and thin towers in what is called Billionaire's Row. It has been almost 5 years since I visited the city and I was amazed and marveled at the engineering that allows these building to be so tall and thin. Here are a few pictures from my trip and a diagram depicting the new towers with their names on the new "Billionaire's Row".
You can find more information about Billionaire's Row by viewing following B1M video links;
Here are some of my photos taken from my recent trip to new York City illustrating how tall and slim New York City buildings are becoming.
