Copywriting

I am a copywriter and content creator.

In a nutshell, my job is pitch your brand to a target audience with words. I can do this in all sorts of ways.

If you need a podcast, I will script it for you, record it and then provide you with the link. Or I can show you how to do it yourself.

And of course, if you need to promote your business with a brochure, I’ll write that.

The thing that sets me apart as a copywriter is my experience as a journalist. I actually love using my passion for language and storytelling skills that I developed as a journalist to create a desire for whatever brand, product or service I’ve been asked to promote as a copywriter. As a journalist, I covered all sorts of industries and talked to all sorts of people, from the ordinary to the famous. Which means I can talk to all sorts of clients.

About Leon

Leon Gettler is a copywriter, podcaster, author and journalist.

Gettler has written An Unpromised Land (1993) (winner of the National Book Council Award), Organisations Behaving Badly (2005) and 10 Ways To Survive The Corporate World (2015).

For many years, Gettler wrote for The Sun News-Pictorial and The Age.

Gettler’s journalism awards include the United Nations Media Peace Award (1997) and the Professor John Miller Distinguished Achievement Award. From 2000 to 2003, Gettler was co-editor of The Australian Institute of Management's (AIM) journal Management Today. Gettler was a regular freelance contributor to AAP, The Australian, Management Today, Business Spectator, CFO, ProPrint, CRN, Charter, In The Black and Public Accountant.

Leon has a weekly podcast Talking Business and have been the podcast production manager for RMIT’s Blockchain Innovation Hub.

Gettler is currently doing a PhD examining how newspapers can innovate to connect with their communities

I am Leon Gettler, copywriter, podcaster, an independent journalist, author and public speaker. My goal is to help people make better business and financial decisions. To this end, I cover topics such as strategy, globalization, leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, executive education, IT, marketing and human resources. I use plain English to explain complex regulatory issues, such as Sarbanes-Oxley ("Sox"), corporate governance and ethics.

I've published two eBooks: Congratulations, You've Been Made Redundant! represents the collective wisdom of many of us who have been through layoffs. It's a simple guide that describes what to do — and what to avoid — when you lose your job. The 9 Most Common Customer Complaints describes simple ways to keep customers and employees happy.

My first book, An Unpromised Land (Fremantle Arts Centre Press, 1993) received the National Book Council Prize. My second book, Organisations Behaving Badly: A Greek tragedy of corporate pathology (John Wiley, 2005) focuses on the forces that lead smart executives into making dumb decisions. It was short-listed for the Blake Dawson Waldron prize for business literature. My third book is 10 Ways To Survive The Corporate World

I have a weekly Talking Business podcast bringing you all the business, finance and economics news – in just 30 minutes. 

After 18 years as a journalist at Fairfax Media, I have also contributed to The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian Financial Review, Boss, BRW, CFO, Smart Company, Leading Company and StartUp Smart.
