2021 Impact Report

Unfortunately, 2021 proved to be as challenging if not more so than the prior year. Locally, wesaw increased food insecurity, a surge in homelessness, a mental health crisis and an urgent needto help Afghan refugees. The Foundation, along with other philanthropists and the local SanDiego governmental agencies did not disappoint in supporting these needs. The community as awhole remained strong, supporting each other through daily challenges with resilience, empathy, and kindness.

On behalf of the David C. Copley Foundation and its Board of Directors, I am pleased to reportthat in 2021 the Foundation continued its mission and awarded grants totaling over $5.6 million. In February 2021, the Board approved grants to a collection of non-profit organizations doingexemplary work in our community, including significant grants to Father Joe's, InterfaithCommunity Services, and East County Transitional Living Center to build transitional andrecuperative housing for homeless families and veterans. The Foundation remained focused onhuman service organizations meeting the heavy needs such as food insecurity, mental healthneeds, youth development, disaster relief and the digital divide.

In addition, the Foundation approved a matching grant challenge to Tri-City Hospital Foundationfor the much-needed renovation of its Emergency Department.

The Foundation continues to support diverse non-profit organizations and the Board and staffare proud to carry on the philanthropic legacy of David C. Copley and his parents, Helen K. andJames S. Copley. Please see tab listing all 2021 grantees.

Sincerely,
Kimberly Koch
